"oh, he is such a spiritual brother. He is what any fine spiritual sister would desire as a marriage mate...." (nevermind he is a complete asshole.... and doesn't know how to kiss properly).

Just got back from the YMCA
by Atilla ini went to the y last night just to relax and go swimming.
the y near my house is pretty clean and after 8 p.m., not very crowded.
i find it very relaxing to go work out, play basketball, go swimming and then sit in the sauna after a long shower.

I joined the Y a couple of years ago. College students get free membership where I am, so I couldn't resist. I will gladly sign up as a paying member once I am out of school, too. Great place to work out and use the track. Love it!!
I have recently engaged in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign, too. (uh oh....another no-no ) My husband has a website; he is really into it. Check it out if you can

I've also joined college clubs and voted in the election!.........
Yes, a great deal of new experiences for me, too.

Elder Comes To My Mother's House To Inquire of Minimus & Family
by minimus inmy mom told me yesterday that my friend (while growing up) who is an elder again, (after years of mental problems), came to her house and inquired as to how my family and i are doing.
he said we have become a subject of conversation at a recent get together..... of course, my mother started crying, told him to ask me himself and told him she did not wish to talk about this subject since it severely depresses her.
he backed off but shortly asked again.

Were You Treated With Respect When Counseled By The Elders?
by minimus ini knew a certain few elders that really got off by "talking down" to the "flock".
many elders were pretty nice guys but a few could turn----just like that!
what was your experience with "those taking the lead", the "loving shepherds"???

On my Judicial Commitee, it was the PO who really wanted to know the nitty-gritty details of my sex life and "what body part does he touch you?" and "did you like it?"...etc. I felt as if I had been raped after going through my JC. The other elders were obviously uncomfortable with the PO's questions toward me.
Afterward, I told the person I was involved with what had happened at my "discipline meeting". He was really MAD; he wanted to kick their butts!

Peaceful:
I'm so sorry for what you and your wife are going through. I don't have advice for this particular situation, but I wanted to mention a helpful book.
I am currently reading Dr. Wayne Dyer's "Pulling Your Own Strings". It is for people who have or are being victimized. Your in-laws, as well as you and your wife, clearly are victims. You mentioned in the other post that your mother-in-law is taking anti-depressants as a result of this situation. YOU did not do this to your mother-in-law; it is her choice to believe these controlling men who are pointing a finger at you and your wife. I'm sorry that it seems to be "your fault"; people are upset and putting the blame on you. The big picture of this situation tells a different story: you are simply standing up for what you believe in. The other parties are reacting in the way they were taught. Everyone in this situation has a choice on how to behave or react....or judge for that matter. YOU have a right to stand up for what you believe (or not believe) in. Anyone who disagrees by pointing a finger is simply trying to get you to do what THEY want you to do.
You have more guts than most people in the organization.

Do You Think We Are Helping Witnesses Get Out Thru This Forum?
by minimus ini am curious , especially since we have so many new ones here, as to how many actually left the organization because of this board or others similar to it.
i certainly would hope that we are making a dent in the jw organization by what we do here......,

I "fell away" before finding this site. This site encourages me to understand why I wasn't comfortable living the life of a hypocrite. I was glad to find out I wasn't alone.
As far as helping others "get out", it is hard to say. A JW who visits the site must have doubts about their religion to begin with.

Pet Peeves thread...
by Brummie inthis kinda thread has probably been done before... someone phones me at work and when i say hello they say "hold on" and start talking to someone else, they dont tell me who they are and i'm hanging on hearing them chat to someone who is with them on the other end, 5 mins later they introduce themselves and tell me what they want.
that is a pet peeve.. another, for example, go to the fridge and both tubs of butter are open and both blocks of cheese instead of finishing one off and then opening the other.
thats just a small pet peeve but its one none the less.. miserable sod arnt i though?.

Sales clerks who are not courteous or say "your welcome" when you thank them. They sould be thanking me for my business!
Sales clerks/receptionists/customer service reps who obviously hate their jobs and it shows in their attitude toward you, the customer. It is certainly enough to lose money for the business.
Sales people who come to my house to sell magazines or other merchandise, and ask "why not?" when you tell them "no, thank you". I should not have to give a reason for not wasting my money on them.
Students who don't turn their cell phones off during class time. This shows lack of respect for the instructor and other students. Very tacky during a lecture when you hear a phone ringing, then a "hello?" and "oh, Hi!". .
People who don't look me in the eye when they are talking to me.
Thanks for letting me vent....

My mom told me about an incident that happened when she was a teenager. Hearing about it gave me goosebumps. Her and her friends decided to try the Ouija board. They were just playing with the triangle piece according the the game's directions. They kept getting the same message over and over again: "leg hurts"....."leg hurts". They could not figure out what this message could possibly mean. They gave up, and decided to pack up and put the game away. One of the girls picked up the trianglular-shaped playing piece, and it fell into the box upside down. It was then they noticed one of the felt pieces was missing from the bottom of one of the 3 legs of the playing piece!

I sister I knew had become I JW in her adult, married life. When she was a young girl, her grandfather taught her witchcraft. Apparently, after she married and had a baby, she would often find her child's crib being thrown back and forth against the walls of the baby's room. This happened for several nights until the baby died. It was after this incident the lady became a sister and had another child. She told of "incidents" happening, but managed to keep them under control by calling Jehovah's name out frequently.
