I know Minimus has probably asked this question before, but after leaving the witnesses what did the REAL world become to you as opposed to the world the witnesses choose to see it as?

When You Try To Reason With Someone About The "Truth", What's Your Focus?

I had a discussion with my brother the other day about issues i have with the witnesses. One of the recurring issues i tend to focus on and what i think ultimately is my main concern is the control that they have over peoples lives. I don't like how they make everybody do what they say !! and how you aren't allowed to question things. Hello !! what are they so afraid of us finding out ?
But no matter how much i try to reason with my brother he always finds a way of coming out on top of the argument. so most of the time i'll just say my point and then change the subject. Its just hard to reason with someone that see's the world with such a bias. I can really see how people don't like witnesses

Slip of the tongue and other embarrassments
by target inlove it when someone is trying to say something and the tongue chooses to rearrange the wording.
i think my favorite was one sunday a particular ms who had a thing for perfectionism was announcing the song to be sung "jehovah's happy people".
it came out "jehovah's happy peepee".

I remember after about a month of not going to the meetings. Trying to start my fade. I went to a presbyterian church function with a school associate. That was one of the first times I had ever stepped foot into "christendom". I was basically cool but while I was sitting at one of the tables talking and joking to my associate I had said, "once I disfelloshipped my elbow when I fell off my bike". I meant to say "dislocated". I've never experienced a freudian slip like that in my life.!!! lol

Strange Encounter With Dubs Just Now
by Stephanus ini was just up at a neighbour's place, standing at the door talking to her, when two dub ladies came up the path on what turned out to be a return visit.
the neighbour said "not today" and hid inside and i dismissed myself, following the ladies out of the yard.
what was strange is that they didn't acknowledge me at all, even though i was right behind them.

I think most witnesses are actually afraid to get into a discussion with someone who looks like they have half a brain. Their afraid someone might actually be thinking about whats being said.

Everybody wants to feel like their life had meaning. Instead of focusing on the her future, try to help her realize how her life was significant. In her last times, I'm sure she'll think back and those memories may ease her pain.

I've always wanted to celebrate Halloween! I love dressing up and theatrical things!! Someday I'm going to dress up as Santa Claus on Christmas so my kids can tell all their friends that Santa visited their home on Christmas.
I thought about doing something for halloween this year but I wonder if theres anybody my age who likes halloween anymore. I wonder if they find it too childish. I thought about dressing up as the "phantom of the opera".
Last year at my jw friends "bon fire" way out in the country, I erected a 10 foot scarecrow illuminated from underneath to scare the young kids on the hay ride. I'm sure that gave an impression to some of them. Everybody said it looked "awesome".

stuck in!
by red so deep inwell, this is my first post here, and i'm kind of doing it in secret, cause i know if my parents knew of my "poisoning myself with apostates" they would not be happy at all.
anyways, my story is; i'm 17, i've been brought up "in the truth" my whole life, and now i'm starting to question the wt and christianity in general, and i have nobody to talk to about it.
i feel awkward about talking to my witness friends about it, cause i worry that if i speak out against the organazition and the wrong people (i.e; young ones around here that would never think of questioning the society) hear about it, it might result in my punishment (reproof or dfing).

Congratulations, Red So Deep
You have finally begun listening to your heart. You were no doubt nervous about getting on this site in the beginning but you listened to what your heart was telling you and something good came out of it.
I've been fading for many months now and have felt many situations that I was unsure about. At times a little voice would be saying "I'm not used to this, this is wrong I should turn back". Everytime I've pushed myself forward something good as come out of it.

I've been doing the fade for about 5 months now and doing my best to stay away from all witnesses. I'm currently living with my brother who is still an active witness. I've been doing my best these last couple of months to establish friends away from the twoof. Well, yesterday my brother had a witness he met at the last assembly come by and play guitar with us. Come to find out I really liked the guy and wouldn't mind playing in a band with him. I don't think the guy has a regular witness mind set. Come to find out most of his family is not in the truth, when he came yesterday he brought with him a photo album of his relatives and seemed pretty proud of them despite many of his relatives in the pictures having tattoos and smoking. He seems the type of guy who really looks at the inward person. I think his family might have been raised around the truth. But I don't know this guy perplexes me. He was dissfellowshiped a while back, he said. And I guess upon reinstatement he's doing his best to be approvable to the witnesses.
I think he already knows that I don't do the service thing and I don't think he would say anything to me about it. but I just don't know. I would love to be friends with this guy. Hopefully in the future he will leave the organization. I'm nervous about hanging out with him right now b/c I don't want any witness entanglements. but right now I would like some association with something I'm familiar with. I've tried hanging out with so called "worldly" individuals but I'm still a little uncomfortable around them.
