do you think that god enjoys killing people?
it sure sounds like it to me; jw doctrine more or less scared me into thinking that god is going to kill all persons whom he/she thinks is not doing his will.
my question is, how can god kill someone for not being "christian", or following the bible out of sheer ignorance?

Reincarnation seems to be likely, and that this is what he taught, but was edited out of the bible and omitted from his teachings.
Why do you think he might have taught reincarnation? I tend towards believing in reincarnation myself, so I'm curious.

were you one of those that acted pious at the hall but elsewhere, behaved as someone not a witness?
I'd have liked to have lived a double life, but I couldn't get the hang of it, and one way or another I always got caught. I'm just one of those people who always bollocks it up somehow when I try to do anything I think I shouldn't.
one of the questions in the uk at the moment is whether we shoudl have identity cards or not.. the government, who wants them, claims they will "help to prevent terrorism".
spain and the usa both have identity cards and they have had big terrorist attacks.
it's never been explained exactly how they will stop terrorists.. my personal opinion is that they are just another government play to control people, another form of tax (you can bet it will cost us to get them) and i have my doubts as to whether the government could run a large scale it project of that magnitude (given it's track record) and whether the estimated 3bn won't end up many years late and at least 10bn over-budget.
Didn't Maggie try to get ID cards going back when she was PM? But I can see why they want to now (not that I agree) because it seems to be a lot easier to sneak into the country since the Channel Tunnel opened. When I left England two years ago there was a lot of complaining about how the French don't really guard their side of the border properly, and how all the Algerians and former French colonists can go to France legally and then have easy access to England through the tunnel. I suppose the government thinks it will help because it will make it that much harder to function as an illegal immigrant inside the country, but I don't think it's very practical. It will just create a black market in fake IDs and documents, and the people most likely to be able to get those will be terrorists backed by lots of money. I do believe that it will create an atmosphere of paranoia, political repression and yet more polarisation. I can't really see the Brits putting up with it, but these days, I don't know. Does anyone remember Max Headroom? I keep thinking about that these days.

I'm a Libra and pretty close to my personality type, but my daily horoscope is never ever right. However, my husband's is always right on the money. So I don't know what's going on there. Anyway, I went to an astrologer once, she was very cool, the daughter of a famous British comedian. She took all my info ahead of time and then when I walked in the first thing she said to me was that my chart showed that I had no confidence, and I would just have to get off my butt (not in those exact words, she was nicer than that) and learn to do go ahead and do things anyway. Since lack of confidence is my biggest problem, I was pretty impressed. Also depressed, as I had always hoped that someday the confidence fairy would wave her magic wand and give me some. But it was good advice, it helped.

I'd like to try it but I don't trust anybody enough. I keep telling my husband to learn how so he can help me solve a couple smallish problems, like smoking too much and being oversensitive to noise. But then I'm afraid I will find that afterwards I suddenly love housework and want sex twice a day. On the other hand, that might not be so bad. Maybe I should go for that instead.
Milton Erickson was a therapist who was the greatest hypnotist ever, you might find it interesting to read a book about his work. Also there's a guy named Roger Woolgar who helps people to find out about their past lives, he has a book called "Other Lives, Other Selves" that is fascinating.

okay, i don't know about the rest of you, but when i read any wt publications (even on here), i fall into a state where i'm reading, but not paying attention to what i'm reading.
i used to do it during watchtower studies, and when i was studying, i fought to pay attention to the material being discussed.
it just seems automatic, that i completely shut my mind off when reading wt publications.. what about you?
I agree with Farkel. I think it's cleverly designed to make you go into a trance and shut down the analytical part of your brain altogether. I think it's deliberate. I really do.
i was under the impression that an apostate was anyone who left the witnesses, was df'ed/da'ed, or was just actively opposed to them.
but i was reading in my hubby's old "reasoning book" that an apostate is one who professes to believe in christ (but not the jws), claims to serve god (but is not a jw), tries to pull away current jws or attack them.
so, by that definition, would someone who fades away and professes no religion still be considered an apostate if he or she didn't try to take anyone with them and did not attack the religion?.
I have been told by JWs that ANYBODY - former JWs, current JWs, or never-been JWs - is an apostate if they try to weaken the faith of the brothers and sisters.. See, the great thing about being a JW is you don't ever have to look anything up in the dictionary, because the Society will tell you all you need to know about every little thing.

I'd like to see here send that letter to Bethel, her own Elders, and post it at her Kingdom Hall. With her own name signed. Posting anonymously to an apostate site is not exactly raising a stink.
She also completely ignores the fact that when Bill Bowen and Barb Anderson raised a stink, they was DFd. I have yet to meet a JW who can even give a reason for that. They say that they weren't DFd for exposing a coverup, yet they give no other reason, just say they don't know. And content to remain ignorant, as always.
