For shagging I thought "bumping uglies" was funny.

by Nosferatu inthis is mostly directed to all of you from the uk.
i listen to a lot of music from the uk, but there's some, i guess slang that i don't completely understand.. raw ramp: as in "you're a raw ramp".
i have no clue what this means.

I lived in England for quite a few years and collected many cute sayings:
Stone the crows (expression of amazement)
I should cocoa (expression of emphatic agreement)
Tear a strip off somebody (read them the riot act, tell them off)
Take the piss (mock, also take advantage of)
Big girl's blouse (a wimp) (an especial favourite of mine)
Have a slash (take a piss)
They also have cockney rhyming slang which constantly evolves and if you're running with a crowd who's into it you have to be really sharp to understand them at all. An example
Look = butcher's hook
Lies=porky pies
and so on, but then only the first bit gets used, so you can get a completely incomprehensible sentence like "I reckon she's telling porkies, but I wouldn't mind having a butchers".
I loved it all, I found it really playful.

do you LOL or HAHAHAHAHHHHHHH ? ? ?
by dh inwhen you want to type your laughter online, how do you do it?
is it in a lol?
haaaaaaaaaahahaha?

I tend to LOL, but only because everyone else does (still a sheep, I guess). I'd prefer to hee-hee-hee, which is sort of how I really laugh. But it looks even sillier on the page than it sounds in real life.

There were many reasons, one of which is how does a 500 year old ghost know how to use the bar and open a fire door?
Maybe it watched someone else do it? Can ghosts learn, I wonder?

US Needs To Treat It's Allies Better? Keep Tourists/Terrorists Out!
by Englishman inthe us needs to lighten up on the brits especially.
uk visitors are down 30%.
the media is abuzz with tales of how rudely visiting brits to the usa are treated sometimes as they go through the port of entry.

I've never had customs or immigration be rude to me at any airport I've travelled to in the world, before the attack. Now I find American airports quite a bit ruder. There are a few powertrippers with the security guard mentality running amok, but I think mostly everyone is just very stressed. It's got to be a pretty tense job to have these days. It must be quite a worry that you might be the one to let the terrorist in.

JW - non JW relationships
by sjf84 ini'm sure that if i had come to this website as a non-jw looking for information on this cult when i was dating my jw girlfriend, i would not have taken any notice of a message like this.
but i cannot stress this enough to any non-jw in a relationship with a jw: get out now!
it is only natural to believe that your relationship will be different to the other failed relationships between believers and non believers which you read about on boards like these.

Welcome sjf
You're right, you're better off out of it. Even if she had stayed out, quite a few people want to go back when they have children, even if they've been out quite a while. And with kids the conflict gets 50 times more complicated.
There's always another train pulling into the station when you're 19, and the next one will be lots better, you'll see.

Did Morrissey go too far this time?
by Sirona ini know we've mentioned morrissey's new cd on this forum before, but i don't recall anyone talking about the shocking lyrics of his new album.
i love morrissey and i own all his stuff, but this time i've found myself cringing!
here are some excerpts:.

I actually can't understand the lazy dykes one, I'm not sure WHAT he's trying to say. Is it anti-lesbian, anti-housewife? I can't follow it. But the others don't seem too bad to me. His thoughts about Jesus seem more about expressing personal disappointment than trying to offend anyone. And those lyrics about America, well, a lot of people feel that way right now, we love America but don't like its foreign policy or its hogging of resources. I personally don't feel it's going too far to say so out loud, that's what democracy is about. IMHO. At least it's about ideas, and not just smacking his bitch up.

More UFO Boldness
by metatron ini have not seen any attempted 'debunking' of this shocking incident - or the belgian triangle many years ago.. the recent incident involving the mexican air force showed publically how contrary explanations are failing, as various.
'experts' suggested ball lightning, weather balloons, and anything else they could think of.
much the same happened.

That's an interesting painting, what's it called? I want to google it. I'm not a super-skeptic but I reckon it's a hoax. It looks like an old painting has been partly painted over. But if it's the real thing it's very interesting, and if it's a hoax it's a cute, funny one.

If things turn ugly for the Western world, will you run back to "Mother"?
by True North inwho knows what will come in the years ahead from terrorism, global warming, conflict over natural resources, proliferation of wmd, et al.?
it's not hard to imagine truly horrific things happening.
i don't think it's likely, but perhaps one day the major powers might even respond to religion-related terrorism by joining together to restrain or control religion under the banner of the u.n.. such events certainly could trigger a response from the fears/phobias that ex-jws may carry around with them due to years of wt indoctrination -- however much repressed these are at most times.

Even if I could be convinced that JWs have it right (which I can't be) I would not go back. Ever since I was 12 years old I've known that I'd rather be dead than spend eternity with those people following their rules.
