It has taken me years to get comfortable celebrating the holidays, epecially xmas.
However every year it gets easier and easier.
My wife, however has no problem with it (she's an x dub too) and she teases me about it all the time.

Do You Still *Look* Like A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus inwould someone still mistake you for a witness?
-
pratt1
I probably still look like a witness when I go to work - suit and tie except on Fridays.
However, I hope I am a little more stylish than most of the dubs I see around here.

Do you hate the person that converted you?

Since my mom converted me, as an infant, I can't hate. In fact I have deep love for her, however that does not mean that I don't hold her accountable for the problems the religion causes in our lives.
But until she wakes up, I doubt if she ever will realize how harmful that cult is.

I appreciate you thoughts Derrick, but I have had enough of the dubs to last me a life time.
It is my belief that a loving God reads hearts and not whether or not you are associated with an organized religion.
You are entitled to your opinion and belief structure, but I for one am very comfortable with my choice to not be a dub.
Good Luck to you.

The other side of shunning
by pratt1 in.
i thought it would be appropriate to mention that at least in my congo, when you are dfed you are told that if you are seen talking with a dub, you not only jeopardize their standing, but you also jeopardize your chances of being reinstated.. i did shun many people when they got dfed, and i was shunned as well when i got dfed, but after i was reinstated i continued to shun, especially those who were trying to get reinstated.. i didn't want to hurt their chances.. many people who shun especially family members may feel the same way.. did you?

What makes you resemble your parents the most?
by Soledad ini have my fathers strange brownish/reddish curly hair, his cheeks his eyebrows and his jawline.
i have my mothers face shape and eyes, i think.
i also have my mother's figure (pleasantly plump!).

Interestingly, I am probablely a equal mix of both in the looks depatment.
Mom's eyes, dad head shape and nose.
My complexision is lighter than both - because of my dad's mixed heritage - Irish and Black.
I have the temperment of my dad, calm and steady.
My mom' s outspoken personality.
My love of sports from my dad.

Divided Household
by pratt1 ini grew up in a "divided household" and i was wondering how many of you had similar experiences to mine.. 1. i was always viewed as fatherless child as a kid.
i wasn't, i had a very involved father, however he was an unbeliever.. 2. i always felt the my decisions in life ultimately meant that i was chosing one parent over the other.
going to college i chose dad over mom.

3. I was always uneasy about the end of the system, it meant that since my dad was an unbeliever, it basically meant that I was okay with the fact that my dad would die.
I will say that on of the benefits of having an unbelieving parent was that when I decided to walk away from the"lie" it was easier for me, and it actually brought me closer to my father.
Any comments?
