There has been similar threads, but maybe if we get more specific about when we like to listen to a particular CD it could be interesting. I was just listening to the Oracle CD by Michael Hedges, great mellow acoustic guitars and I love the cover of Tomorrow Never Knows. So this one I'd say is for relaxing and blissing out. What are your choices for whatever occasion?

Explain you religion/beliefs in a nutshell
by devinsmom inlately i have been pondering my lack of a belief system.
i think that being a jw really turned me off to believing in anything since it was all crammed down my throat.. i have been feeling a need to believe in something.
i think i believe that something created us but not sure if it was one god or many.

I don't really get into beliefs anymore, although I understand where some people are coming from. I've met some people who are 'religious' but they really don't consider belief to be the primary thing, actually the attitude is more like belief is not the point at all. I mean sure if you want to study religion or whatever it can be interesting and informative, but think of a friend who accepts you unconditionally vs. someone who just shares similar beliefs and thought processes - that's two very different things.

Speaking of being invisible, what's up with that Clay Aikin song? My boss was pointing out the part where it goes 'I would just watch you in your room' is that like some stalker action going on?

''YOU are my witnesses,'' Trump card (and comfort blanket)
by MidwichCuckoo inthis, i find, is always the bottom line.
'" "'you are my witnesses,'' is the utterance of jehovah, ''and i am god.
as his name is jehovah, the people must be jehovah's witnesses.

Have you a POSITIVE JW experience??
by ScoobySnax inok sometimes i feel it's good to maybe not redress the balance, but at least can you say something positive that you gained from your jw experience.
so thats what i want you to do, if you so feel inclined.
can you say or mention something that had a positive effect on you when you were a witness?

emotionless
by carla inis it normal for one who is a somewhat new convert to become emotionless?
maybe that's not quite the right word, but, husband just doesn't seem to care when there is a problem in the house with one of us.
he will just say things like, 'well, i'm sorry you feel that way' and nothing more!!!

He might be lost in thought? Either thought in general or the particular thoughts of JW teachings.

Relationships and age difference
by greendawn inpeople say that love is blind to age difference but when you have/had to strike a relationship or marry with someone what's the maximum age difference that is/was acceptable to you?

I think it depends on the relationship, romantic relationship isn't specific enough for a specific answer, there's a wide range of variations under that umbrella.
I have to say to me it has a lot to do with maturation, I mean sometimes you have a child in an adult's body and I just don't find that attractive, but I guess for some men they don't really even look at that much less care if they are just cute.

Buddhist / Taoist / Christian Hybrid
by EvilForce inso when i have to explain what i believe to people and how it can coinside with one another i must mention the jesus sutras.
they're a group of teachings that go back centuries.
a group of christian monks left persia to enter china in the year 635, and established a small christian community inside china.

And amongst the different traditions, there are people who recognize that these are just vehicles.
I was listening to a talk given by this order of Christian mystics recently, and they noted there are different ways of training, like zen and sufism has all the discipline done in the beginning, whereas they don't do that and they also incorporate psychotherapy.
Basically identification with your karmic structure would be egoic consciousness, even if it is your own spiritual training. However that training does provide you with useful conditioning, but the whole point is you go beyond that so you can use the karma instead of being used by it, so to speak.
There are people from different traditions working together, but it is not really an interfaith thing as one might imagine. It's not a matter of having a dialogue and working out a synthesis of belief structures, it is a matter of already coming from the same understanding.
