I just finished watching "House of Saud" on Frontline. I believe that there will be a World War started by countries who instill extremist Islam at their schools and on TV like the Saudis and other countries.
Here is the most interesting quote from the show:
Dr. SAAD AL FAGIH, Wahhabi dissident: People received a message in their mobile phones, "Congratulations." And then the next message in the mobile phone was, "Our prayers to bin Laden." They were very jubilant and happy and looking at bin Laden as a hero. People started killing sheep and killing camels and making big feasts and inviting their relatives and friends to celebrate the big event in America.

Why Do You or Don't You Believe In The Bible?
by minimus indo you believe in the bible just because you were raised to believe?
are you sure it's "believable"?
.....have you convinced yourself the bible is just another book?

The Bible contradicts itself way too much to be from God. It has to be from men.

I debated with my "devout" JW mom and her JW elders for 5 hours
by booker-t inas most of you know by now i have told you that my mom has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years and i can't get her to budge.
well the last time we debated she left me totally confused and in a daze.
i did some fast research and this past sunday we had a free-for-all debate that lasted 5 hours.

I would have went for a fairer fight. 3 on 1 means that you have to defend the ideas of 3 other people as well as formulate your own logic. Didn't JW's teach you to go 2 by 2?

WHY DO PRISONERS DISCOVER "RELIGION"?
by Mary inwhy is it that a number of people who commit the most henious of crimes, suddenly become "born again christians"--usually while sitting on death row?
do they think this somehow absolves them of what they did?
i remember when karla fay tucker was interviewed shortly before her execution (in texas) a few years ago.

The Parole Boards like to hear how they have reformed. Having a member of the clergy vouch for them helps out.

I'm thinking of going back
by Smoky inover the weekend my cousin came to visit from mi, and her husband (elder) started to do his shepperding thing with me (have not attended meetings for over 1 year), and made a compeling argument about how the holy spirit is given by god only if you attend meeting and go to field service...etc, etc.
and the whole "faith and works" issue.
it was a different angle that i have never heard before, about me being a "instrument or tool" of god...blah, blah, blah... anyhow, it got me thinking about going back...especially when things are not going to well for me right now... (he said its because i left jehovah).. how can i convince myself that this is not true?

You coulld say i am unstable since my divorce 08/03, battaling depression, alcoholism, low self esteem, self loathing, and occasional suicide. So of course, going back seems like a quick fix.
Unless there is a person in your congregation that is a psychiatrist, you have no need to go to back. You do, however, need some professional help not someone to fill your head with lies. -

I realized that I was dedicating myself to God. I didn't realize that I was dedicating myself to bunch of men in the form of the Governing Body and that I should never question what they say.

Are you still "hurt" from your JW experience?
by JH in.
i was just wondering if you still feel hurt or some kind of interior pain from your jw days or is it all passed and you have no more feelings towards this organization.... i still feel "hurt" and let down... .
afterall, they were friends, and now they just don't care anymore.

I served where the "need was greater". I sacrificed a significant amount to be there. Now that I'm fading I have only been visited 1 time. So, all my time, effort, and sacrifice amounted to absolutely nothing.

How did you actually envision Paradise?
by freedom96 inthere was always the talk of the new order, or new system.. but did you ever take the time to wonder what it would really be like?.
would it look like it big park?
would it be country like, with acres of land per home?

PROVE That Jehovah's Witnesses DON'T Have The Truth
by minimus injws are convinced they alone have the truth.
they are scripturally trained to prove to others why they are "in the truth".
from your vantage point, how can you show this is untrue??

Jesus himself gave us the identifying mark
John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
13:35
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
They don't have love. I asked my Dad (an elder) if he felt loved in the congregation. He said no. End of story. -

We Should Encourage "Lurkers" To Post Here!
by minimus ini would like to say that any of you that read this board are more than welcomed to be a part of this group.
i know some of you are afraid.
some of you are unsure.

I encourage all who are lurking to start posting. If you decide to leave you will need support. You can find this kind of support here. Most people on the outside do not understand what we went through and gave up as a JW. Only those who were JW's and experienced the same thing can understand.
