Maybe I don't fit the mold. When I visited Ireland I was asked a number of times if my girlfriend and I were Australian. No I told them. We are Yanks.

A Russian finally told me the European Secret
by Amazing ini would love to travel to europe some day.
i have worked with and been friends with many from europe, asia, south america, africa and the middle east for the last 25 years.
of all these people only the europeans have ever suggested that they can pick an american out of a crowd ... they seem to know us no matter how much we may share the same ethnic background.. i have asked europeans and others may times just how it is they can spot an american, even when we have not spoken.

What Was Your Reputation In The Congregation?
by minimus inwere you considered a "troublemaker", a "complainer", a "fine" brother or sister?
were you always being called before the elders for one thing or another?
is your reputation the same here as it was in the congregation??

I was viewed as a liberal elder, the guy who spoke up when others wanted to, but were afraid. The publishers thought I was a good teacher because of the time and research that went into my talks. They also knew that when they approached me with a problem it would go no further unless they wanted other elders involved. When I resigned in 1984 many in the congregation were surprised and saddened. Later on some were shocked when they learned that I had been received into the Episcopal Church. You can't please everyone.

How many have left the WTS and joined another church/group?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inat this point in my life i don't think i could trust any religious group.
i don't even feel the need to be a part of anything like that right now, and maybe never will.. but i know of some who have joined other churches/groups since leaving the borg.. why do some join another religion and why won't some ever get involved again?.
what makes us so different?.

I left the JWs in 1984 and for a few years didn't attend religious services. But in 1987 I I began attending other churches and synagogues. In 1991 I was received into the Episcopal Church.

Do you believe in fate or predestination?
by Dimples inas a jw i always found it difficult not to accept the fact that our lives weren't mapped out for us.
i believe people we meet in life and things that happen to us are for a reason.
i feel our life and death has been planned already.
