the following are common jw misconceptions about other christian churches.

interestingly, the opinions are never refuted and develop into "facts" that "prove" christendom (non-jw) is a joke.. 1) churches are too emotional.

The following are common JW misconceptions about other Christian churches. Interestingly, the opinions are never refuted and develop into "facts" that "prove" Christendom (non-JW) is a joke.

1) Churches are too emotional. How many fruits of the spirit are emotions? And when did Christain meetings become a college class?

2) They never discuss deep scriptual topics. False, many churches conduct a mid-week bible study that does just that.

3) They use their choirs or invite music groups to hype the audience into a frenzy. And what are those fellows doing on the inside of your songbook? Can you imagine if a JW congregation sang like that?

5) They do not go door-to-door. Maybe not that ritual, but I wonder why many of these churches are growing while JWs are stagnant/declining? Do not forget that Baptists, Penticostals and other religions have an active missionary core as well (not to mention Adventists).

6) They do not disfellowship members who violate Bible principles. No, instead they keep the weak close, like a lost sheep, remember that parable?

Just a reality check for those on the outside. By no means am I advocating these other religions. Just remember that JWs are deluding themselves about their "spiritual paradise" by demonizing their church-going neighbors.

WT Farm closing; also Largest WT press moving to Canada

i just got off the phone with my mum.

she said that a 2nd cousin, who works in new york bethel, is coming to canada bethel for about three months, as part of the move of their largest print press to bethel canada.

To clarify: "WT farm" in Walkill should not be confused with the Patterson complex in upstate NY.

I would not surprise me that the farm is closing. As you may know, NY operations downsized beginning last year and all bethelites were given the annoucement this spring that anyone who wanted to leave could do so.

As to the printing presses, WTBTS is shipping and assembling huge presses all over the world, diversifing their operation. This includes an installation in the UK (for Europe) already complete. Another will be in Brazil (for S America). The size of the Brazilian branch is huge and compares to Patterson sans the Writing/Service Deparments.

The presses are the best (this is a publishing company) and can spit out something like 60 magazines per second. They also have the capacity for hardbound books (look for the return of those and the demise of glued cardstock covers). The size of each press is comparible to 10 city buses and usaully need to have buildings built to house them. This may also explain the migration away from Brooklin to Patterson.

WTBTS would never close Patterson, it was built to last through Armaggedon.

Is this the best WBTS can do? The org is hemorrhaging its youth. The comment I get from 16-25 year olds is "WE ARE BORED AT THE MEETINGS! JWs: Your youth are some of the smartest kids there are. They are trained for public speaking and high marks. They have been trained to be smarter than the organization they belong to.

What Do You Call Calling on a Do Not Call?

it is a little known policy outside jws that all you have to do to stop jws from coming to your door is to be put on the "do not call" list.

this is a record that is attached to the back of every territory card (a map section assigned to jw members) and carefully avoided by jws in future visits in your neighborhood.

to make sure that the list is valid and up-to-date, it is procedure for an elder (usually the service overseer) to call on these addresses at least once per year to verify that the resident still does not want visits.

It would be interesting a place a brief ad in the classified section of newspapers "Tired of JW Visits?" with brief instructions, simply call local congregation (insert phone number) and ask to be placed on the DNC list. Maybe a link to a site as well.

The hope is that the person has changed their mind or moved. Thereupon, the elder will date and initial the "Do Not Call" list. Until now...

Reportedly, elders in rural congragations (verified in California, Idaho and Montana) are having a hard time keeping up with their lists and are be reprimanded by circiut overseers. The reality is that, in some rural poskets where everyone talks to each other, neighbors have all signed up until some territories are as much as 50% Do Not Calls. The rate is rising and surpassing elder's ability to keep up.

As a comprimise, in some congregations, circuit overseers have authorized "mature and tactful" publishers to Call on the Do Not Calls while they are working the territory! Negating the classification, publishers are instructed to approach the door without bookbags and breifly verifiy that the resident is still opposed to visits.

Some procedures are: men may go alone, but women must go in twos; no children. The WTBS will not legally defend JWs who trespass property with signs posted "No JWs". Do Not Calls are to be treated as Not at Homes and returned to until someone is found at home. Leave a tract if no one is found after repeated visits. Initial and date the Call as the elders would. The Do Not Call is due for a visit once per year. Violent or threatening residents are recorded and JWs are encourage to write or phone instead of visiting at the door.

JW members are reportedy mortified at this new addition to their ministerial responsibility

having just obtained a new dvd , this got me thinking as to how one may apply the "meaning" of a long and detailed story to almost anything .

if you wanted to, you could see the following "prophetic patterns", quite easily.

frodo and loyal samwise clearly represent the anointed remnant and their faithfull companions, the great crowd as they journey through this earthly existence of this old system(middle earth).

Do you think God would mind if you called him an @sshole??

now i don't know if there is a "god",,but if there was one,, would he get mad like the jehovah in the bible if you slighted him in some way??.

i know many people are afraid to call down evil on jehovah or jesus,,they feel god might hurt them in some way if they take up his name in a less than respectful way.

i personal would not be inclind to view "god" to be like that at all.. if this god made everything in existance he must have intelligence that is vastly greater than ours,,he certainly wouldn't have the same emotions as us,,like fear,,anxiety,etc...they would only get in the way of good clear judgements,,and screw thing up for him just like they do to us sometimes.. to think that this 'god" would get angry at us for blaming him for something and calling him names is rediculous,,example: would you get mad at an earthworm because it didn't like you,,or because he swore at you when you stepped on his nieghborhood ant hill??

If you believe that God is has a distinct personality, I would then have to ask which Jehovah OT or NT?

If you believe in a loving God as symbolized by a parent, then the answer is no. Has your child ever said "I hate you" or disrespected you? Did you stop loving your child? Were you secure enough as a parent to realize your child needed more at that time instead of "retribution" or "distruction"?

However, you might stand back and consider that as a part of God's creation you are also a part of God, part of the body of God. In that sense, have you become the @sshole of God?

Before the Donation for Literature Arrangement

back in the day before the donation arrangement for literature did any of you find it difficult to go out in field service?.

i am not trying to embarrass anyone or make anybody feel bad.. i just want to know if having to purchase literature to go out in field service was a financial burden?.

did lack of $ for literature prevent any of you or your friends from participating in field service?.

Intriguing question. Raised in the truth I just took it for granted. Plus the magazines were dirt cheap, and having "value" actually helped sell them in my mind. My family was never rich, but we never seemed to have a hard time footing the bill. I mean, what better thing could you be spending your money on, right?

However, now the literature is free and I have the opposite answers to your same questions. I watch very carefully to JWs in service and during demonstrations at the meetings. No one asks for a contribution. They are embarrassed and would rather foot the bill themselves.

How do you answer that?
