anyway, i am embarrassed to say we are both married and have children.
....but we chose poorly and we're both miserable.
Marry this woman and you'll realize the true meaning of miserable.
This is not like trying to get a divorce from the Catholic church. It's a brainwashing cult that she's in.
Unless she learns the truth about "the truth", getting involved with her would be a huge mistake for you (all other issues aside).

i too have been in a relationship with a jw for a little over a year.
i love her very much but all the abuse i have taken over the pass year from her elders, uncles, grandfather...etc has really taken it's toll on me.

Maybe so. But they will never completely welcome you into their family, or treat you like an equal.
Unless she can see it for the cult that it is, and leaves, you will have constant friction in your marriage.

I wasn't offended (just disagreed), but thank you for the apology.
I can relate to your feelings about 'apostates' in the past. I remember seeing them at assemblies and thinking, "What a sad, lonely life they must have."
I think it's different now, though. I would guess almost every Witness has a relative, or former friend who is now 'apostate'.
They're no longer just the 'weirdos' outside the convention with a bullhorn.
And, while I'm not participating in this campaign, I think it (and others like it) can do some good. It will make the Society and hardline Witness even more paranoid than they already are. They'll clamp down harder, and try desperately to control the minds of the rank and file.
This kind of action by headquarters will eventually make more 'liberal' members, and especially younger people leave the Organization. When all the children have been run off, the religion will slowly die.
That's how I see it anyway.

This isn't about common sense.
It's about respecting that everyone here (and every ex-jw) is in a different place regarding "moving on" with their life.
Calling this idea childish and bragging about how sucessfully you've got on with your life isn't helpful to those still recovering from
this mind-control cult.
If you think this is a waste of time, fine. Just keep your "common sense" to yourself and let these people do what makes them feel empowered.

Now I'm past that and am living my life. I seldom even think about them or what they are doing.

I'm sure this is much easier to do when your spouse, all your children, their spouses, and all your grandchildren
are out of the organization. Most people here are not so fortunate, and experience strained,
or non-existant relationships with many family members because of the Org.
For these people it's a little bit harder to just 'get on with their lives', and forget about the WTBS.
If depositing phony checks in the contribution box makes them feel better, so be it.
