This got to be a joke, apostate surely. Although come to think of it, there are two brothers who made elder, after trying real hard. They where a joke, embarrising to those who knew they were desperate. It wasnt when they made it as elders, we where sick to the stomach, thats when you KNOW appointments arent made by holy spirit

Conceited Witnesses

i love reading everyone's opinions and seeing links to even more detailed opinions.
it has made me think though.. when i was a strong dub i thought i knew everything about the bible and couldn't wait to 'get into it' with a catholic or protestant priest.

My mom and her Ministry School talks
by Mamacat ini get so frustrated with my mom sometimes.
even when i was a kid, she'd get me to help her with her talks.
my mom is intelligent, but she has a hard time getting her thoughts organized and on paper, so she always asked for my help.

I ended up helping a friend the other day with her talk, but she doesnt know I dont go anymore. I just laughed.
Is it just cos its a JW thing or would you not want to do it if she was doing an assigment for work.
I say dont be mean, how often does she get them, and whats an hour helping your mum. I would be terrible hurt if my daughter refused me help, if she could, think of all the times shes helped you.
Dont take offense, im just putting a mothers view on it.
Oh and by the way, I suppose it will make a difference if you have a good or bad relationship.

Yep the paradise book gets my vote everytime. Actually it was molek with his arms outstretched and a baby was going to be placed on his scalding hot arms. What the hell was my mother thinking about!
And theve got the nerve to question "demonic" movies for kids, like The little mermaid, cos of the seawitch.
Actually my family left when I was about nine. I started a study when I was an adult again because of the fear of armageddon was still with me, anyway, the first thing I did when I went to the hall, was look in the library and look through the paradise book, those picture still held a grip of fear. shudders-----------

I have just listened to it. It was very interesting. There was one issue I didnt understand, they said it would have been better for him not to have had any treatment rather than just the chemo. The pastor then explained that the JW had to request patial treatment or he wouldnt get into paradise.
I felt this became the main issue.

How do you think COs and DOs felt about the letter to all body of elders a
by frankiespeakin inin the late 80s or early 90s while i was still an elder the gb sent out a letter to all bodies of elders concerning taking up a collection fro these hard working brothers who have given up so much to be cos and dos.. how do you think cos and dos felt about the letter to all body of elders the expessedly told elders not to take up a collection for these brothers?.
i bet that letter caused a lot of cos and dos to second thought about the gb.
it may have made them feel angry.

I think our cong must have been extra generous or well off, cos we used to take the C.Os wife food shopping at the big supermarket, then pay for her to have her hair done, then take them out for lunches and evening meals.
I never begrudged it, I thought about how much they give up (even though they dont realize it and neither did I at the time) no kids, no home to call your own and what happens if the CO dies, the wife is abandoned. He can go into bethel but not her ! or so I heard.
Its a farce, give them a salary, for gods sake, and stop being so hypocritical ( im taking to you WT)
On the other hand, my husband couldnt stand any of them. Said they where so aloof, kept saying things like"Why dont they get a proper job, and their not in the real world"
Ah well its all academic now !
