  this week, we reveal another church has been routinely covering up cases of child abuse in its ranks.

  Hey refiners fire, i don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but if you're not....hold up a sec. You can't be 100% sure what they based those comments on. While it may be true most of the elders would not say anything to provoke such a statement, it is quite possible someone did. Unfortunately, every single elder represents the whole organization, therefore one "bad apple" may have ruined the whole barrel in this regard.

  You have to admit that the borgs lack of turning over molestors to the authorities in itself automatically implies to others that they are "above the law." True, their policies seem more geared to adhering the law now, but sadly that hasn't always been the case.

  At any rate, those in high positions get the most criticism, whether that position be religious, secular, etc. Any mistake or slip-of-the-tongue will be caught by someone.

  Incredible story - I too have many emotions going on right now - the foremost being hatred for your father. What kind of man does he think he is? What kind of man doesn't look out for the interests of his family first? Ugh....and being guilted into staying with an abusive mate makes no sense whatsoever. They should be ashamed of themselves!! I wish their wives would kick the living &%#$ out of them and then see how it feels.

  Yeah, that's the sad thing about it. Everyone thinks they know exactly how He wants to be worshipped, and they criticize or worse yet kill others that don't agree with them. Instead of nit-picking on inconsequential "little" things, why not focus on a common focus and theme of ALL religions - LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. Leave the rest up to God.

  And the fact that they consider everything printed by WBTS as the ultimate truth and fact just drives me INSANE!!!! There are so many different theories and philosphies on life and how we got here - their conviction is just a small percentage of the global beliefs, yet they are so undoubtly assured that they are THE ONES. It's so sad that most of them don't even entertain the thought or idea that there is a possibility they could all be misled - they don't think that's possible. ???

  I'm just so frustrated. Who knows what tomorrow will bring - why let something like beliefs ruin your relatoinship with your FAMILY?!?! The world's a crazy place.

  Do some people love trauma and tragedy?

  i have never considered myself to be full of a bunch of trauma and tragedy.

  at least when i compare it to some.. have you ever known the type of people though, that always have something new happening that is traumatic.

  you know the type, if it isn't a sick child it is a argument.

  Reminds me of a beautiful Finnish girl I dated last year. She constantly had bad things going on.

  Her cousin was killed in an auto wreck.

  She was in an auto wreck.

  Her friend got killed in an auto wreck.

  Then she went to the hospital for some sort of blood disorder that had developed. she was sick for a long time.

  Then something else happened that I'll omit, but it was WAY crazy and finding out later, totally fabricated to pull my chain and get money from me. (I think she didn't know how to take being rejected. Looks ain't everything, girlfriend).

  Then she got married - alas! Good news!

  Her husband flew out to Finland to visit her.

  He was killed in an auto wreck upon returning back to San Francisco.

  WHATEVER!!! That girl was CRAZY and I managed to date 3 consecutive ones in a ROW all in the same year!!! Finally, I've scored and will be getting engaged next year.

  thank the LORD cuz I was pretty intent on giving up on the relationship thing.

  the title was from a thread recently that said since jws have a ministry, do apostates have an apostrophy?.

  well, today out of the blue, a previous workmate called me at work.

  she stated that she had heard that i was no longer a jw.

  Now, I'm a complete atheist for now and left because of figuring out that the dinosaurs being carnivorous was the (one of the) fatal flaws in the Bible, hence also the JWs.

  Could you expound on this point? Not sure I understand how the Dinosaurs eating meat shows a flaw in the Bible...???

  My First Rock Concert....

  now in my 40's i went to my first and most probably last rock concert last night.

  i took the wife and kids (if you can still call them that with the youngest taller than me) to see the "motor city madman....ted nugent.

  i guess that i am just not the rock and roll type.

  Hey Scarlet - Pearl Jam rocks - I'd luv to see them.

  Yeah, concerts are a blast - I saw Farside last night, along w/ some other rappers I've never heard of. I've never been into the hip-hop/rap culture cuz of it's message, but these guys were good. Definitely dig the beats and flows, just don't like the message and culture so much.

  Just don't have much respect for so-called "artists" that can only talk about pimpin' da ho's, smokin' weed and guns. And the fact that Eminem is getting so many awards is utterly dispicable. That guy is SO lame. I think he's going to learn the hard way that it's not always cool to speak your mind.

  don't get me started on rock concerts. I LOVE THEM! I started going when I was in Bethel - the first being Hootie and the Blowfish, then Everclear with Fuel and another band...then...hmmm...oh. VAN HALEN! That was a sweet show. Since then I've seen a ton of bands, my favorites being Dave Matthews, STP and Lenny Kravitz. I saw Metallica at the Giants stadium, again, while in Bethel. (I was such a rebel - skipped out early from work, caught a bus to NJ and saw METALLICA. hahaha) It's all about the music for me, though. Music is SO MUCH BETTER live.....

  I'm more into the House/Techno scene now though. And I'm taking a jazz class at a local community college. It's nice being free from the mind control and not having to worry about my music collection stumbling someone. geez.....my parents were SO strict on music - i had to hide anything that had any sexual or "demonic" conotation (sp?) to it. My Led Zepplin albums were bringing demons into the house - true Jimmy Page did practice black magic, but I never felt in difference with the albums in or out of the house. oh well.

  Welcome TTBoy - I too am fairly new here and come from a pretty devout JDub fam. I tried to reason w/ my brother on some points and got absolutely nowhere (surprisingly) and so I'm not going to bother w/ my parents. It's just so hard sometimes because I want all of them to understand SO BADLY the real truth. I don't know what it will take for them to realize it though - they're wonderful people and it really sucks not being able to part of the unit anymore, but all I can do is pray that the blindfold will be removed one of these days. And enjoy the once-a-month conversations - I'm fortunate I'm not totally shunned.

  Interesting thread.

  Imagine, if Adam & Eve never sinned, the world would be a Paradasaic Brainwashed Nudist Camp. The minute they partook of the fruit, their eyes opened, and they realized they were naked and became ashamed and covered themselves.

  I wonder if there is an antidote fruit - sure would be a hit at a party, that's for sure. (pictures bowl of fruit at the entrance, everybody takes some, clothes start peeling off....) hahahaha

  Makes ya wonder about God - he intended for humans to walk around naked all their life. Makes sense though because infants and toddlers have no shame to be naked in front of people - we learn as we get older that it's socially unnacceptable to be naked in front of people. (for the most part)

  i'm kind off subject here - sorry. :-P I found this really interesting though - had never quite re-considered this account since leaving...the way i heard it explained was that the issue was raised with all the other angels in heaven, so "Jehover" (hahaha - that cracks me UP) couldn't simply kill Satan because then all the other angels would have doubt...?? But again, yes a day to Him is a thousand for us, so...couldn't he have proved his point in a day? How many peoples lives do they need to witness before the point can be made? I mean, geez...this is ridiculous. Something definitely doesn't quite add up. I'm a man of reason and that just doesn't hold water in my book.
