Very few know even the basic doctrines of the Witnesses
by joelbear inafter 131 years of preaching around the world.
its a losing battle.
there are fewer people today in the us that know witness doctrine or what witnesses would call "the good news of the kingdom".

Which aspect of JWs would you like to see a documentary about?
by Gadget inif you had a chance to make a documentary about some aspect of the jws, what would ou choose?
would you talk about shunning, the blood issue, explain how its a cult, or what?
unfortunately this would only be for an 8 minute segment on a current affairs programme so i need something that'll get peoples attention and make them think without having to go too deep into the subject.. what would you choose to talk about?.

yes, the "control aspect" would be good. how it's all about hours and reports and following men.
i'd also point out that JWs are writing notes about the householders in field service. i bet some people would feel uncomfortable if they knew that everything they said was written down. -

More bones of hobbit-sized humans discovered
by zagor inmore bones of hobbit-sized humans discovered .
by patricia reaneytue oct 11, 9:57 am et .
australian scientists said on tuesday they have discovered more remains of hobbit-sized humans which belong to a previously unknown species that lived at the end of the last ice age.. professor mike morwood, of the university of new england, in armidale, australia, stunned the science world last year when he and his team announced the discovery of 18,000-year-old remains of a new human species called homo floresiensis.. the partial skeleton discovered in a limestone cave on the remote indonesian island of flores in 2003 was of a tiny adult hominid, or early human, only one meter (3 feet tall), that would have walked upright and had a chimpanzee-sized brain.. morwood and his team said it represented a unique species of early humans that evolved to a naturally small size because of environmental conditions and the isolation of the island, which was also home to exotic creatures such as miniature elephants and komodo dragons.. but critics suggested the small hominid was not a new species and was more likely a pygmy human or a creature that suffered from a form of microcephaly, a condition that causes an unusually small brain.. "the finds further demonstrate ...(it) is not just an aberrant or pathological individual but is representative of a long-term population," morwood and his team said in a report in the science journal nature.. chinless wonders.

What makes you absolutely certain that there aren't higher life forms than you or me, that exist in some other dimension or realm?
because there's no reason to believe it? no evidence? anything's possible, but to firmly believe something there must be some reason, not only some idea. don't want to talk for other people, but i think noone's "absolutely certain" bout anything actually.
i for one don't believe in "higher life forms", as i've never experienced such a thing. if someone told me i'd life in the matrix, there's no way to deny that either, but i just have no reason to believe that. -

the worst thing is: you are not allowed to use your brain or question anything. if you do, you are in big trouble.

one thing i don't understand: what do they want to teach in school when talking about creationism? the bible? it's not all xians over there, is it?
what about hindu or voodoo creation stories? what about native american creation stories? they won't teach children that turtles and snakes made humans, will they? -

Snowboarding
by Jordan inany snowboarders here?
i recently got into snowboarding, i've had a few hours on a dry slope, just wondering if there's any tips you guys got for us newbies.

never look down to your feet when snowboarding, at least not until you got the "feeling". always have your eyes watching some far away point, maybe the mountains on the other side, this way you won't fall down that often.

pointless post about chavs
by Ellie in.
call me uncharitable if you like, but i just hate chavs, not all of them, most are harmless if you hold your breath, but there are some that i just really can't stand.. i was walking through town earlier when i saw plug and his girlfirend, its thanks to my boyfriend that they know who i am but thats another story.. plug must be having a break from prison as he is back prowling the streets and his girlfriend has a few missing teath and hair you could fry an egg on, you know the type.. its funny actually because apparantely his girlfriend is going to beat me up as i tried it on with plug (rolls eyes), but they still had the cheek to shout me over in the street and ask if they could borrow 8p, so i gave them a pound and told them to pay it back when they get a job, unfortunately they weren't bright enough to realise that was an insult.. it is a really pointless post but i just had to vent.

i always had problems with the elders for listening to hard rock. but i remember an old magazine (don't remember if it was awake or wt) that talked about not listening to "loud pop-music".
