Randy, I think the most embarrassing thing in the Revelation book has to be the part which takes parts of Revelation to be a prophecy of the imprisonment of some of the early bible students.
This has to not only be the most ridiculous explanation of the symolism but also is one of the best examples of how haughty, full of pride and presumptious these leaders were to think that they were personally pictured in the Bible in this way.
Some would go as far as to say that these interpretations are "adding to scripture", something the JWs are good at, as one can only have a "bible study" with them using one of their own books which put their slant on everything.
Also, I know you have made predictions as to future doctrine changes, but surely when the 1914 doctrine goes, this particular piece of understanding will have to go too, and it will appear even more stupid than it does now.

What will it take?
by ballistic into be taught not to criticise or analyse what you are being told, to be taught not to think for one self and to be taught that information can only come from one source, to be taught not to listen to the reasoned argument of people with other beliefs should surely set alarm bells ringing.. especially when this source has proved to be unreliable through decades of changing doctrine.. what will it take for people to realise?
even when they abandon 1914, will people take note?
will just a few people be "stumbled" and then the old teaching quickly be forgotten?.

They are already playing down 1914. The number of references to it is dropping each year. The teaching is becoming watered down. Will any lurkers here say Yes I will leave the org when they drop 1914 as the start of Christ's presence?

Rain plays a huge part in the cleansing of the atmosphere including particulate matter and CO2.
The biology of many fish requires them to swim from salt water up stream to fresh water to sporn.
Adam and Eve had to drink fresh water, maybe that got up early every morning and licked the dew off the grass. -

Ultimate proof there were rainbows before Noah:
The bible clearly states that there were rivers in the garden of Eden itself. (as pictured in the bible stories book)
Rivers = RAIN, not mist, not dew, not dampness but RAIN.
Rivers are in in-divisible part of "the water cycle" through which water is evapourated into the atmosphere where it forms clouds, condenses and falls to the ground as rain, raising the water table on higher ground and forming springs where this water table meets the surface.
End of argument.

Another question about the Governing Body
by ballistic inwhat is the actual mechanism by which god reveals his truth to the governing body.
the governing body have admitted to having made mistakes so it can be logically stated that this mechanism is by nature flawed.. while true that god only has very imperfect people to act as "the faithfull and discreet slave", there is no reason why he would use a flawed or imperfect method of transferring this "life saving" information to them.. the governing body has been very quiet about what this method actually consists of.. surely they must also be aware that delusions of a religious nature are common in various mental disorders such as schizophrenia.
is there any way of judging whether truths are the product of ones own mind, if not the product of the devil.

This to me proves it is not a theocracy. Not one come-back from anyone who believes they have a direct link to God and damning evidence that they run the organisation board room style and make up doctrine as they see fit.
Wouldn't the Watchtower make more interesting reading if it contained the minutes of these meetings, i.e. what proposals got turned down, what current beliefs did not have a unanimous vote, how many of them voted to join the UN, etc.Do you think this is why the Watchtower is full of re-gurgitated rubbish - they can no longer come to agreement on anything?
