If there's one thing I've learnt about JW reasoning, it is that they have to have it both ways - always. They will contradict themselves and on both occasions quote scripture as You Know does to back themselves up or to give authority where there is none.
They will say "look at this proof, our prophecy of xxxx has come true, this prooves we are the one's appointed over the master's belongings!" and then later say "well that was a mistake and if it did stumble anyone, well that was prophesied too!"

WHAT ABOUT THE STUMBLING BLOCKS?
by You Know inthe underlying assumption of the apostasy is that if the watchtower falls short to a significant degree then it cannot be jehovahs organization.
thats why apostates are hopeful that if enough fault can be found with the organization and brought to the attention of the faithful, then they too will accept the conclusion that jehovahs witnesses are not who we say we are.
unquestionably, many have been stumbled over a multitude of stumbling blocks.

Disassociation?
by Sunflower1982 inhi people!
i was wondering if you all could take a moment to give me some advice.... since leaving my congregation and regaining clarity, i have been contemplating disassociating myself.
i know it seems like a silly thing to fret about, but i think disassociation might give me the closure ive been looking for.

I must admit, I had no choice. I was disfellowshipped (fortunately). 9 years later though, and there are still one or two I would love to talk to and can't. (even though my family refuse to shun me, the rest of the congregation have to).
So I have a paradox. My disfellowshipping brought me to my senses and helped me free the religion, but it also closed a huge social chapter in my life at the same time. -

JWs called at the weekend
by ballistic ini was sure i heard my buzzer go on saturday morning.
i wasn't sure but it was far too early to answer anyway.
i realise now just how rude it was to wake people up at 9 o'clock on a saturday morning, even though i used to do it to others every week.. anyway, i finally got up and jumped on my motorbike, and as i scooted off down the road accidently ran over a screwed up watchtower and awake.

No, I only have blinds which I never shut. By the way - I am a "do not call". They know I am on the Dark Side. They must have called by mistake. or it could have been my once yearly from the elders, which would have been a shame to miss.

Anyway, I finally got up and jumped on my motorbike, and as I scooted off down the road accidently ran over a screwed up Watchtower and Awake. In fact there was quite a lot of litter (I presume all literature) floating about that morning.
I remembered back to being a Witness, always collecting discarded mags and either re-selling them or binning the evidence so that other people wouldn't see them being disrespected in such a manner.
Those memories! -

Masturbation is more dangerous than atheism
by Elsewhere inhttp://www.whitehouse.org/initiatives/purity/index.asp .
president bush is proud to introduce an ambitious new phase in the fight to preserve all that is decent in america.
conceived and championed by the revered republican think tank americans for purity, "operation infinite purity" is dedicated to the complete eradication of masturbation from american soil by the year 2005. .

I can't see many politicians wanting to get their hands dirty with this one. If they start getting involved with this kind of thing, they could end up being the one fingered. You have to look at other issues to see politicians coming together.

JWs Could Never Steal This Feeling
by DakotaRed ini have stated in other posts that i am a vietnam veteran.
when studying, i was told how "stupid" i was for going off to that war long ago.
even though i was often made to feel less a person because of my military service, i still was baptized and eventually, saw the light and left the borg.. i also belong to a yahoo message group comprised of fellow veterans that i served with long ago.

I don't know about vietnam, I haven't been there. But I do know that most people would like to think their father died for a reason. Here is a toast to all those witness fathers who died for no reason. To the changing doctrines and whims of the Governing Body's blood policy which causes blood to run from the altar of so called truth.

Try reading Crisis of Concience which has a lot of info on the governing body. The governing body is the missing link to Jehovah's backing, allegedley.

What did you do during the written review
by truthseeker1 inby far the most boring part of all meetings is the written review.
what kind of stuff did you guys (male and female) do to pass the time.
i either to write computer programs, sleep talk to my wife or sleep in the car.

I actually thought the rotten review made an interesting change to hearing the same old crap over and over again.
with the exception of the odd bit of new light.
Hey I just thought...
perhaps that's why the witnesses love new light. It means something actually interesting to listen to. -

Do any of you know each other?

i'm new here.

ok, now for a sad answer. I've never met another disfellowshipped person since I was disfelowshipped 9 years ago.
but I really hope to be and the next apost fest.
