One sisters fanatic stunt makes my mission progressing...maybe?
by Cirkeline ini sooo much enjoy being with my girls after i got reinstated last fall.
i use pretty much energy (days and nights) thinking on how to serve small drops of ttatt (the truth about the truth) to them without going to far and make them feel uncomfortable.
we have a very good relationship now, and they have accepted that i very seldom attend the meetings, but it is'nt ruining our relationship.

My ex-husband & his sister who are both active JW's refused to go to any function where I might be there. I'm an ex-jw and left 10 years ago. I am still very close with my ex-in-laws and we get together often. My ex-brother in law invited myself and my non-jw husband to a gathering for their daughter baby shower. Now they are not JW's and never have been. Only my ex-husband and his sister are JW's in the family.
My ex-brother in law was really angry with them for their attitude. I just told my ex-brother in law that is how it is in the religion we were in and not to be angry with them, they are affected by the mentality of being in a cult. I of course was angry and irritated by this but I didn't reveal it to my ex-in-laws and let them handle it and stayed out of it. As it turned out I couldn't attend though I'd been invited.
It is a frustrating situation, and I have two sons by this hateful man. But my sons are both out of the JW's and my ex-only has contact with my oldest son. My youngest son wants nothing to do with him at all. My ex doesn't even try talk to his son even though he has married and has a granddaughter he will never get to know. That is how it is.

What Was The BEST Thing About Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus inthis thread could be a saver!.

I spent 30 years as a JW from 1971-2001.
The best part was having and belonging to a community of like minded people. Which you can find other places if you just look. I enjoyed the association I had most of the time with the JW's and the fact we weren't strangers no matter where we went.
Of course I believed in the teachings but later came to realize it was bogus like the great OZ behind the curtain. I was devastated to learn it was all smoke and mirrors and I'd dedicated my life to a false world view.

Why didn't Jehovah ??
by Phizzy inas jehovah said to the israelites "you are my witnesses" and was happy to let them get on with things without major interference by him, he must have broadly approved of what the nation was doing, until jesus came and changed things.. for hundreds of years before jesus the jw's (israelites) had decided that the name of god was too holy to pronounce.
had he been upset by this he would have sent a prophet to sort this out, but no, it continued as practice, for 200 years at least, and remained uncondemned by jesus.. if jehovah had really wanted his people to use his name, would not a prophet, at least would not his son, have said so ?.

I've read some interesting things from Jewish scholars about the use of God's name and what it is. Check it out online and you get a better scoop on it by Jewish scholars than Christians scholars. After all it began with the Jewish Torah (1st 5 books of the bible).
The other thought I had because of reading what biblical scholars say about the New Testement, it was never intended for mass reading by people 2000 years in the future. Jewish writing were already put to paper about 600 BCE and when the bible speaks in 2 Timothy Ch. 3 about "all scriptures is inspired" it was refering to Jewish writings, not the letters that circulated among the early Christians. Most Christians miss apply that scripture.
It is something to think about. Also the the stories of the bible were different human experiences with the divine. We're they intended to be taken personally and believed literally? I don't think so. Jewish historians and scholars poor over the ancient laws and try to modify them for todays world without a lot of success. They were guilds to living in the world it was written for not our day and time.

I cannot believe my father called me to ask this!
by serenitynow! inso my father, a jw bum who abandoned us when we were children to be with his pioneer whore, called me tonight and left a message.
this is surprising because i have not seen or spoken to him for a couple of years, other than to leave a message a couple of weeks ago to tell him that i had to hospitalize my sister for being suicidal.. i found out about a week ago that one of his very good friends, a brother whose family used to go to the hall with us and used to be close to when we were children is dying in the hospital after having a couple of strokes and a heart attack.
they've been talking about taking him off of the ventilator for a few days.

My son who left the witness about 7 years ago has a active JW dad who is the same, a real A-hole. I left my son's Dad after the death of our middle son and both my other son's left. But my youngest son had the worst relationship with his Dad after I left and all their dad did is chase skirts and neglected my youngest son who was 13 at the time.
My son told his dad off about 3 years ago and told him what a prick he was and how useless he & his religion is. Well my son has moved on living a great life and he has no contact with his Dad and his Dad long longer bothers to contact him. My son has already said he won't go to his Dad's funeral when he dies. His dad got married to a self centered JW and my son's hate her.
My oldest son has contact with his dad and has a so-so relationship so long as they stay off the religion.
Send your Dad a letter, keep a copy of it and tell him what a useless nothing he is. It will make you feel better that is what my youngest son did and let him know in no uncertain terms his Dad is dead to him.

The Convention Pretty Much Sucked
by Franklin Massey ini feel better now.. but just in case you are wondering why i think it sucked, here you go:.
- it was clearly an "insider's only" convention.
why invite the public if you are just going to engage in crazy talk that only jws can decipher?.

I remember being tired and exhausted all the time at the conventions. Bored silly but still saying "Oh the convention was encouraging and wonderful" not meaning any of but trying to be the good little JW wife. 10 years since leaving no conventions for me it is wonderful. In fact I threw away all my dresses, skirts and just wear what ever I want all the time. LOL

It always astonished me even as a witness how they would talk about people being concerned about having good paying jobs and providing for their families. Did they want us dependent on the friends to support our families? Didn't they need the hard earned money we made to keep the organization going? Are they idiots, it seems so don't it. They are cutting their own throats and don't even realize it. I hope they destroy their false religion, its time for it to go away. The witness I've seen over the years look exhausted and burned out, I'm sure it hasn't changed much since I left 10 years ago. I know my life is 200% better since I left mentally, spiritually, financially and hope even during this economic turn down is high.

JW = largest body of therapy for mentally ill?
by cptkirk incan't believe i actually was buying into this group for as long as i have.
i browsed a few threads on this web page, and saw a few that dealt with how heavy they have been lately on "the enemy within", paraphrasing, whatever....i really think they are actually collapsing, and this kind of notion of "the enemy is everywhere!
" is just a testament to that fact.

It's like awakening from a dream isn't it, a very bad dream when you realize how you've been fooled by these arrogant men who lead the JW organization.

A church I attended (Presbyterian) both my Pastor and his wife were Jung Therapist and studied at the Jung Institute. My pastor specialized in Dreams and taught all over the USA. He has since left to persue his career full time. I learned a lot from listening to him and he shared many books with me on Jung. Personally I think Carl G. Jung was the best of the best.

Hey did you know sometimes folks will pay for those very books you just tossed in the trash. Yep some of the ex-jw's buy them to do research. But I know it felt so darn good to throw them out. I started to do the same thing but ended up selling them on ebay and making a litte money on them.
