  What a laugh - talk about deliberate misdirection:

  "only 11 elders have been sued ... in lawsuits filed in the US"

  Tell me if I am wrong - but when a person is SUED this is a civil action against them.

  Replace "sued" with investigated by the police put on trial found guilty in a Court and sentenced - the number soars.

  Absolutely typical of how the WT equivocates: They replace 'convicted' with 'Sued', then argue from the new standpoint.

  AS for the case in Canada - didnt the woman concerned win her case and get compensation? Then the WTBTS decided to sue her for their court costs?

  There was a thread concerning this at the time.

  those facing a jc should have a package for dealing with a situation where the elduhs want to "talk with you.".

  i know the question is long, but it has occured to me that there are a lot of newbies here but before that, many ex elders, some co and do's that are no longer jw's.... did the publishers comments at a jc about the misconceptions,dates, and lack of holy spirit, etc.

  make sense to you and did you start thinking about the failed prophecies, fudging the "new light" etc.

  which caused you to slowly fade away.. .

  Go back to the threads at the time the thing exploded.

  The bullying of parents. The hurried removal of Bethel Representatives from australian soil when the Borg learned the enquiry was starting. (what had they done? what were the wt trying to hide??)

  Children who were to do a bible reading at the Ministry School being told they were not to do their talk. (So they could claim the elders did not deal with children in the congo) Even the fact that the bethel issued instructions that the Kingdom Hall placard should have the Ministry school times removed.

  The whole thing sucked.

  Oh - in case those reading JW.org didnt know: The Watchtower lawyers denied the very existence of the Faithful and Discreet Slave.

  I have kept a very low profile for years in Witchtower Lala Land. Most of the younger dubbies dont recognise me.

  I no longer attend, which means if I see them on the way to a meeting they think I am a worldling.

  On meeting nights they always get on the bus or subway looking miserable. Avoid eye contact with other passengers.

  In 1999, I was on holiday in France, and it was memorial night. I wasnt going I wanted to dine with my friends. A convoy of cars passed. Miserable faces peered out from the black clothed people inside. I just knew from the sour faces they were going to the reject Jesus fest.

  Witlesses only really smile when they are overcome by delusional euphoria at the Kingdumb Hell.

  Supernatural if you like. My theory is that science has not explained everything. There are things that happen we dont understand - in the past religions invented "explanations" which I think no longer explain anything.

  My father got involved in Satanism latterly - he said he saw things that made him warn me off - but these are not PERSONAL. The ones I had would identify me... Sooo

  What is your strangest "supernatural" JW story?

  i had just became a witness and a guy i worked with, who was also a jw, told me a story that actually made me laugh and i think it upset him a bit.

  the storys were almost always in the third person.

  it went as follows.. this brothers wife and him were sitting at the kingdom hall on the end seats of the row next to the back of the room.

  I remember I was alone in the house. I was eighteen at the time.

  I could hear the hiss of Demon breathing under my bed. Everytime I moved they breathed harder - so I just froze, praying and praying and praying for protection - and eventually went to sleep.

  Next morning trembling, I looked under the bed.

  My mother had put a box under the bed with things in a large polythene bag. It was the air hissing every time I moved....

  Though I have had one or two wierd experiences that I find hard to explain.

  what would happen if we did not have religion to give some at least inference to (at the very least) our subconscious, that there is some type of afterlife?

  what would we tell kids when they ask us what happens when we die?
