Hedging your bets to everlasting life!!!!!!!!!
by Spectrum inthe mentality of some jws which keeps them in the org is one of hedging their position and not one of love for the org or anyone else for that matter.
basically they rationalise their situation by saying, "if i'm right, then i get everlasting life.
if i'm wrong what's the problem?

List of your qualifications . - I believe Jehovah is the one true God . - I'm thought of as a spiritual person . - I have tried to live a good life . - I have been baptized . - I go to all the meetings . - I'm regular in field service . - I haven't done anything really bad . - I have friends who will vouch for me . If you were to list any of those qualifications on an application for paradise , it would indicate that you don't understand the worthlessness of religion . The only application that would be accepted by Jehovah would be one on which you listed your qualifications as follows . - I can cite no merit of my own . - I have been a sinner from birth . - I am coming not in my name but in Christ's . - I believe Jesus is the son of God and my savior . - I have accepted His sacrifice for my sins . - I believe He rose from the dead . - I have put my trust in Jesus Christ to save me . Thought this was interesting.

Welcome,
I feel betrayed for 34 years, feel abandoned by all of my so called friends - who have yet to call or talk to me to ask me why I do not go to meetings anymore...
Been there done that.
It is "CONDITIONAL LOVE" wtbs sets the conditions for you to recieve love, family follows, its insane!!
Your experience has been repeated many times thanks to the cultic wtbs policies.
I haven't wrote a letter either. Don't like to play by their rules.
Best Wishes

Would you shame someone for going back to the Witnesses?
by free2beme ini was thinking about this, as i have a former witness friend who is showing signs of wanting to go back, even though they have expressed over the years a lot of frustration and lack of belief for the faith.
as much as i find their decision to be a mistake, i do understand why.
after all, unlike myself and family, i have never been shunned by the few family members left in and i moved on over the last decade to build new friendships and hobbies.

I think I might even take Elijahs way of dealing with people who want to believe in falsehoods,
and actually start mocking them for returning to their vomit.

Ive figured out our need for religion...
by theinfamousone inor at least i have a good theory as to why we like to think there is a god who cares about us and why we follow his "guidelines" and rules and then go to his churches and follow his religions.... i think our major problem as living breathing entities is that we like to believe the world revolves around us.
no matter how unselfish we think we are, we still do not want to think of a time when we are not around... we do not want to think of being forgotten, we do not even want to think of dying... right?
so we invent a god, who cares and who stretches his hands out to us so that we can one day be remembered by him, and be saved by him, either by reincarnation, heaven, new world, and the list goes on... we are all afraid of nothingness, so we use religion to console our fear and to be able to think that we will never be nothing.... what do you think???.

I don't quite believe this.
I know darn well not a whole lot revolves around me.
When I'm not around why would I care if anyone remembers me.
The graveyards are full of irreplaceable people.
Auldsoul, very good point.
If nothing else believing in God helps you get through this life and gives you some hope of peace.
