while reading through some threads, i sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if i had stayed a jw and had kids.
i now have a 23 month old son, that's very active, i can not begin to imagine what torture it would be for both of us to attend meetings or go out in field service.
i would be expected to keep him still the whole time without toys, snacks, books or any sort of distraction at all, except maybe the my book of bible stories.
Too sad--I wasn't raised one but I saw that sooo much.
The sad thing was seeing the mothers (especially single ones ). Thay ALWAYS had that deer in the headlights look.
Sad too, were even the intact families that couldn't even have a nice long dinner to chat--check on your day, make sure homework was done and to be home at 10:00--no wonder that didn't have the enrgy to check their lives.
And not letting kids be kids--Sat morn was to play, do work w/ the family, etc.
i always loved to collect books.
if any jw came and looked at my bookshelf now they would turn probably turn white.

jw's have a vocabulary and terminology of their own dont they?
i have thought about putting togther an apostaglossary to identify those particular sayings and their true meaning; i have included a few to start the ball rolling;.
'he doesnt have the right heart condition'.
Worldy Pursuits--
Education that provides more resources so as to be a better, husband, wife, all around normal human.
Goat--
Someone who is too busy (legitimately) to accept magazines on an uncalled visit.
Meek, Teachable--
Too ignorant,insecure, or stupid to question legitimate concerns.
i just dont get how people can stay in a religion that constantly changes the "truth".
never mind the scandals, that is a seperate issue.
but the foundation of a religion is its doctrine, how can you believe an organiztion that constantly changes it.
same reason people stay in abusive relationships---Low self esteem, Fear of Change, And the need to be a part of 'something' rather than be alone

Actually, they are the only prog band that does it for me--Dimeola, Holdsworth, and the modern fusion players were great, too
WOW----good response---Close to the Edge---pinnacle of modern rock music----Tales and Relayer were astounding and very brave undertakings, not to mention Roger Dean's album cover and stage designs (especially 1976)

Presence--showed a mature band--(even though Plant was losing his range and Jimmy's drug use was catching up)---his playing got sloppy REALLY QUICKLY !!!
