The emotional, attached mind is your mind, and this healthy renounced Dharma mind is also your mind. Satisfaction comes from the Dharma mind. If you follow this mind, the free mind, when somebody criticizes you it doesn't bother you, it doesn't hurt your compassion. But when you follow the attachment mind and somebody criticizes you, it bothers you, it hurts you. As you become the friend of attachment you begin to view this emotional mind as your self, your being, then when someone's criticism hurts your attachment, it appears like it is hurting you.
If you analyze like this, whether you feel hurt or not is completely in your hands. One can use the situation to make oneself more peaceful, to bring oneself satisfaction and fulfillment; to quickly achieve realizations, quickly receive the path to enlightenment.
The whole key to transforming everything into beneficial situations, to blocking all the problems, is which mind you follow, whether you follow delusion or Dharma - your own mind the delusions; your own mind the Dharma; the ego or the bodhicitta; the attachment or the free mind. You can have the satisfied mind, which is pure Dharma.
It's up to you logi buddy

On WTS Ethics & the Golden Rule
by Farkel inon shunning: do unto others and force everyone else to do unto others.
on blood transfusions: dont do unto others and too bad if they die.. on abuse of spiritual authority: screw unto others and say jehovah told you to screw unto others.. on revisionism of wts history: do unto others and then deny you ever did it unto others.. on false prophecy: do unto others and blame it on the others you did it unto.. on pedophilia: when things are done unto others, demand those others to keep their mouths shut.
and everyone else, too.. on raising children: beat unto others.. on literature sales: charge unto others and make those others also charge unto others.

first of all i was gaging some of it was just stupid.. then i read some other stuff and thought - god how could i have been taken in?.
i keep coming back to this over and over, i can't understand how normal thinking human beings as i was can be taken in by these lies and fantasies.

a falacy ?
by BATHORY ini was showering this arvo and thought of something i would like the groups opinion on.. the org likes throwing the word apostate around because it effectively ellicits a predetermined response that may be advantageous for the point they are making at the time.. now by their definition or generic garden variety jw personel definition, it is a peson that believed and had the doctronal truth then has abandoned it for some other belief.
if that is our accepted working definition to their frame of reference.
then when their beliefs ( invariably only the big'ens ) change or get adjusted, how then is this not a move to apostacy.

G'Day all,
I was showering this arvo and thought of something i would like the groups opinion on.
The org likes throwing the word apostate around because it effectively ellicits a predetermined response that may be advantageous for the point they are making at the time.
Now by their definition or generic garden variety jw personel definition, it is a peson that BELIEVED and HAD the doctronal truth THEN has abandoned it for some other belief.
If that is our accepted working definition to their frame of reference
then when their beliefs ( invariably only the big'ens ) change or get adjusted, how then is this not a move to apostacy. The core of this question is relating to the qualification of absolute truth. This is so clear to me, why can others see it also.Im sure many of you mongrols here were Defecated out of gods org for things that now would not be a D'f offence ( in principle ).

Question to w'ever went to this weeks service metn
by BATHORY ini heard something interesting from the platform at tonights servo meeting, it was the 2 nd section on witnessing.
a question to any that may have been to theirs, our brother was going on about how some say millions in say india and china etc will never get the preaching message etc etc we have all heard that before, but then asked us to turn to mat 24 : 14. an elderly sister read it, in a tone that denoted that she had read it 1 million times before, then the brother said that the greek word for preaching used there actually means to herald.
hmm, to herald huh....ok, then he used that premise to say, that who knows how jah will herald the good news to all these people, as if to say that all it would take for a witness to be made to them would be a voice from heaven ( or t.v ad or program ) saying my son died for you so worship me etc.. now my question is, did anyone else hear this at their meeting ??

G'Day all ;

Now my question is, did anyone else hear this at their meeting ?? Is this an officially sanctioned line of thought or new light given by the org, or this brothers own reasearch ?? I was going to ask him after the meeting, but thought i would ask you fine scholerly folk first so i can have some ammo.

Who Draws The Line and Why?
by hillary_step ini wish to present three situations that are true to life and open up a discussion on these different scenarios and how would would personally act toward them.. 1) a 75 year old person has been a jw for the past 40 years.
most of their friends are jws.
they look forward to the fellowship at the meetings and though the congregation is far from perfect, they are pleased with the fact that they have a purpose in life.

G'Day hill'oes
I couldnt express my views better than aCHRISTIAN did.
I may also add that when you say " in trying to inform them about the failings of their religion " how can you say such a judgemental thing ?
Who are you or we to judge that their religion has failed, failed what anyhow, it hasnt FAILED in giving them, even beit false, a hope for a nice afterlife. Actually ignorance and the striving for truth aside, would we not all want that ? Did you means to say that their religion is based on man made laws, ( not the failing thing ), that being the case, you got to ask yourself how will that influence their lives assuming you convinced them of this, and would that be beneficial for THEM. I say all striving for truth, even if found to be ugly at the time, is beneficial not just for you but mainly for your generations to come.

A (possibly dumb) question for AlanF...
by ianao inalanf, in a previous post in the 'alanf et al, a little help please!...
' thread said:.
in order to protect itself from legal repercussions, the society has to maintain the fiction that it is not involved in df'ings and such, that such things are done purely at the local level.
