How Do We Respond to the WTS on the UN?

oh hello, just little old me.. i want to talk about and ask a question about the watchtower's "spin" in the un fiascao.. based on my review of the case, there are 2 "spins" that need to be "counterspinned".. these wts "spins" that deserve responses are:.

1) the watchtower did not keep this un "association" a secret and the leaders were not hiding anything.. 2) the watchtower used this "association" to help promote its educational and voluntary work through out the world.

we only considered the support of the un charter in help our brothers get their religious freedom.

The cover up is almost always worse
than the original crime. Sounds like
the GB, FDS etc is pretty cluless as
to the power we hold a/k/a "internet"

we can out publish them a billion times
over. we can out research them and
certainly out think them and do not have
to try and cover our tracks and reinvent
the past.

the WTS culture has been one of "we can
say, print, preach any darn thing we want
and since this is God's word we are invinceble!

No longer true for sure but will take time for
\the culture to change unless a Lee Iacocco
type takes over. The committee form of mgt
only leads to stagnation. Maybe a spilt is in
the future.

To all posters, keep on researching, posting
we have the advantage and power. hehe

What the UN thing means to me

i have thought from the beginning that the un thing was being way overblown in terms of importance and have said so here.. but, you know what, it is a big deal.

the watchtower society is taking the easy way out of the situation by "using" the un rather than standing firm in their beliefs and relying on jehovah for assistance.

i feel the same way about the un membership that i did about the lawsuit with swaggart and the krishnas.

so when you started to work out all you thought so logical and true was actually rather pear shaped what did you think?.

"i'm ging to bring this organisation down".

"when i tell people this (whatever point you like 607 etc)they'll be shocked like me and want answers".

Just like I wanted to tell everybody the "trooth"
when I was going door to door and was unable
to understand how the householder could not
see the "trooth" I now am still amazed that those
in the "trooth" can't see the "Truth"

However many of the previous posts have very
well expressed the thought of why people will
not consider change and often can not afford
to accept change. Esp. rapid change so maybe
it is God's plan/purpose/foreordination that the
WTS will "evolve" into a bland, generic, toothless
boring mainstream religion. May take several
"generations" but will happen for sure.

An interesting dilemna

aaaarrgh... i finally got the guts to tell my mom yesterday i wouldn't be attending any more meetings.

of course, i had my reasons all laid out (going to the meetings would be hypocrite of my part, etc.

) but, surprisingly, she didn't ask for any reason.

Sound like you are in a "minefield" hehe.

Seriously, I like the fact that you care for your
Mom and respect her feelings. Since you are
receiving "free rent" in exchange for "cheap labor"
you might consider that as a neogiating point.

Due to exchange of labor for room and board
you are not able to afford to pay all of the net
connection fee thereby negating her objection
to your freedom of viewing. How old are you?
How much is the net connection? Have you
thought about taking over control of your life?
What about further education? What about
a career or starting your own business. I know
of several friends in the cleaning profession who
have become very successful. Not just financially
but have control over their circumstance.

As another poster said " the problem is not lack
of money, it is lack of ideas!

Depression

i went to the depression and health forum because i thought i might find some who are suffering or have suffered from depression as i am..

Hi there fellow depresed one. I have suffered
severe depresion the last five years and found
professional help in conjunction with medication
was very effective treatment. I am on 30mg
Paxil a day and feel "normal" whatever that is.

Please do not mess around with depression cuz
it truly is nasty stuff but the "good news" is very
treatable. IMHO pick a regimen and stick with it.
many various routes and you may have to try
several but once one works stay with it. I have
fallen off the wagon twice, my own choice as
I felt I could do it on my own, but now back om\b
meds.

i have to respond to the letter sent to the branches from the wtb&ts.. first: the explanation from mike pence is right on the money.

i am still an active jw who was at bethel for several yrs.

and in good standing with my local congregation.
