  ever get the feeling that some from these or perhaps other boards view themselves in some sort of leadership capacity?

  its as though they might not have gotten enough of being an elder or ministerial servant and still relish the idea of being in charge.

  one of the best ways to determine if an individual still has visions of grandeur is to disagree with them.

  Ever get the feeling that some from these or perhaps other boards view themselves in some sort of leadership capacity? Its as though they might not have gotten enough of being an elder or ministerial servant and still relish the idea of being in charge.

  One of the best ways to determine if an individual still has visions of grandeur is to disagree with them. Usually this is enough to ignite a flame under the ego of the would-be potentate. Ive noticed that those with strongly differing opinions usually risk expulsion or alienation from the clique, or worse.

  Not that I aspire to any such leadership role, but Ive got a ready-made "motto" for those who do

  "If Im wearing the Fez, youd better do what I says!"

  Lust For Glory Alienating The Majority?

  if i had ever been a victim of abuse, and the offence had been perpetrated by a member of the jw religion, then silent lambs would be the best thing ever to appear, both on tv and in person.. if i had a close friend or relative who had gone through the same trauma, then i would feel almost the same emotion.. now i do not know, obviously, what percentage of persons on this site have been victims of abuse by jw's, but my guess is that this percentage is relatively small.

  so whilst most of us feel very empathetic to abuse victims, not that great a proportion of us have experienced it personally.. however, i do know that many of us have suffered trauma because of other forms of abuse by this organisation, including disfellowshipping which has caused many to be rejected by their loved ones.

  whilst it is not possible to measure this form of abuse against that of child abuse, it is nonetheless a type of abuse that most of us are familiar with on a personal level, it's also a type of abuse that is still going on for many who post here.

  I dont know, but its a good question. To get the answer, maybe youd be better off to address your remarks to the individual or individuals that raised the question initially.

  If I were asked, I might offer that it could have come from a desire to seek a degree of unity from the ex-JW community (as a whole) on this very important issue. Many believe this cause to be a "no brainer" and can not fathom why all ex-Jehovahs Witnesses would not be at least somewhat supportive of the only organized movement geared to specifically address these issues.

  I feel that some of the more ardent supporters are so focused on this and so driven to make the cause a success that the obvious lack of endorsements from some has been equated as opposition to the movement and to those in a leadership capacity. I feel that there has got to be a degree of frustration among some of the supporters that this thing has become so disjointed and fractured.

  Of course, this is all just conjecture on my part. To get the real answers youd probably have to ask somebody that actually knows what is going on.

  BTW, I liked your "Lust For Glory" header, as it was only slightly inflammatory and I feel it was geared to garner the greatest number of viewers.

  Yeah, once me and my cousin Shawanda went to visit the Jerry Springer show. They had some guy on who said he could hip-mo-tize anybody. I said he couldnt put me under but he kept sayin he could, which made me mad.

  Anyway, before I had a chance to hit him with a folding chair he apparently put me under because someone suggested that I take off all my clothes and I had gotten all the way down to my underpants before some big guy in a black T-shirt was finally able to stop me.

  Not since last Tuesday.

  Bubber and me went to visit my Uncle Leroy who lives in a trailer park. I dont know why they call it a "park"; cause the whole place is actually kind of a dump. Anyway, we were all sittin in front of the big projection TV screen (which takes up about half of the trailer) when all of a sudden there was a bright light outside that flashed which simultaneously knocked out all the power and the pay-per-view wrestling match we was watchin.

  We got our guns out and started firing out the windows but whatever it was never did come back.

  Id like to argue this point with you but its lunch time and I have to go to McDonalds now and load up on "Big n Tasty" sandwiches. They are on sale (I think for the next 14 months) for only a dollar each. McChicken sandwiches are also on sale for buck.

  Maybe maroons like you dont appreciate high fat, high calorie food at a reduced price. I cant wait to sue these pricks.

  come on, can you think of anything with more intrinsic entertainment value or raw fun than beating a dead horse?

  i say, "those who wish to should be allowed to swat away".. while were at it, some of the "sacred cows" on this board probably deserve a good spanking as well.

Or "If they cant take the heat, they should never have allowed themselves to accept the responsibility of directing the kitchen troops.

  And while were at it, whats the big deal over age? Should a Nazis who retires to Bolivia be given a pass for war crimes just because he suddenly decides to write a few well-intoned self-help books? Think about it.

  It all comes down to culpability and accountability. Maybe some of you fawn over or get all obsequious whenever any of the current or ex members of the GB says or does something of note. Some of you obviously still hold these individuals in high regard. You speak of them in hushed tones as though they are somehow deserving of great admiration and respect.

  Sorry, not everyone does. Im all for giving these guys a few "shots" if it makes you feel better. Besides, the geriatric wise-guys at Brooklyn are already getting a ten-percent discount off there "Grand Slam" breakfast at Dennys, they dont need any additional perks from me.

  Ray Franz And Things That Are Too Hard To Handle.

  i see that ray franz is coming in for a fair bit of criticism due to his apparrant unwillingness to accept that jw's had a problem with the existence of child abuse when he was a member of the gb.

  also, it would appear that ray is being chided for his belief in the rule of 2 witnesses before action can be taken against an abuser.

  it seems to me that it is quite likely that ray wasn't aware that there was a serious abuse problem within the society when he was a member of the gb, if only for the reason that ray would find such an activity so detestable that he would believe it to be a virtually impossible act for anyone to perpetrate.

  Ive seen several persons rise to the defense of RF on the basis that during the time he was a member of the GB, little if anything was known of child abuse cases within Jehovahs Witnesses organization.

  As further weight to this argument, it has now been postulated that this same individual finds perverted acts of oral sex so disgusting that he wonders why few if any would find this type of behavior appealing?

  I suppose that the idea behind this line of defense is to paint a picture of a righteous, reclusive and sheltered man, who in the exercise of his duties, was so engrossed in being Mr. Wonderful that he was totally unaware of the depths of perversion that humans could stoop to, especially Jehovahs Witnesses in good standing.

  Some could say that such ignorance in view of the possible facts to the contrary, is convenient in the very least.

  Do any of the documented cases of child abuse uncovered by Barb Anderson and others, fall within the same time frame that RF served on the GB? If so, how could RF remain unaware of these activities if such documentation existed at that time?

  Well, isnt that special? I also left the organization after twenty-five years of "faithful service". Unfortunately, I dont have an audio tape that would support the highlights. However, I have allowed friends of mine to "pull my finger" to get a sampling of my feelings on the subject.
