I have a huge TV that was a gift. It's in the 50' range, and I hate it! Wreaks havoc on my decorating skills! And besides, can't get rid of the gents cause they want the TV...I mean...me. I'm getting rid of the sucker and getting a nice leather sofa. Pure bliss.

Fading -- does it ever end?

a year ago, i thought i was just in the middle of yet another slump in meeting attendance.
but one week led to another, and it got easier and easier to just stay away.. .

Yes, I do have an awesome boyfriend.
I work at not incorporating my personal struggle into our relationship, but understand that since it's part of me he has to know a little about it. Fortunately he's very supportive, and wasn't raised in a very religious family. Thank God for that!

I'm fading, have been for some months now. My delimma is that I am single. So it takes on a completely different direction. Although I family who are are quite persistent, they realize how headstrong I am and have calmed down a bit. My not going to convention this year was a major blow to them and let them know how serious I am about it..
I've had a few drop ins, and several calls. During a visit to say goodbye to a CO I actually really liked, Bro. Self-righteous Elder asked me out in service when I went back. Talk about impetus to stay away from the meetings!
Before they just felt me disgruntled or weak. But now, they know that I have a boyfriend. (I told my family, and during our first date we were on the news!!! LOL...karmaic retribution????) My assumption is that soon the elders will be calling to verify that I'm doing things in a "christian" manner. Am I right? I don't want to be upfront and be branded an "apostate" because I really don't know if I am. If being an apostate means not agreeing agree with everything, I guess I am. Or if it's choosing to love someone who isn't a witness than I guess I am.
Sorry to ramble, but this week has been a toughy with various calls, emails and blantant questions.
Thanks for the board,
F.G.

why take the time to "fade"?
by doogie inhey guys,.
i'm perplexed by something and i don't know how well it will be received on this board but i'm really curious.
why did you take the time to fade away vs. just daing yourself?.

I personally never knew I was "fading" until I came to this board. I think what I'm doing, (I've been inactive for about 4 months, but still get the calls and such) is just trying to find peace slowly. To do it either being d'fed any other abrupt way would be too traumatic. I have experienced that once in my life, and to tell you the truth it was QUITE liberating. Made my way back, yadda yadda yadda...and now I'm realizing that the person I've become and the person I "was" are fortunately very different. I just don't "fit" anymore, and that's ok. Life's like that in a lot of ways.
I'm not doing the d'a route, that's just to final as I do feel that some of the people in the org. have true intentions. Others just think for themselves yet don't have the cajones to buck the system. Still others like myself are just trying to figure it all out.
I'm doing things my way, and that's what matters. To many that may seem selfish, weak or whatever, but isn't that part of what we're "wrestling" against in the organization? Freedom of choice?
Fading nicely,
FallGirl
P. S. What does "dub" stand for? I'm a newbie...give me a break

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm enjoying getting caught up on the lingo. Took me forever to find the thread, but well worth it. Minimus (hope that's right) I want to be like you when I grow up. This fading stuff is hard work, hopefully the stare will work.

Hi all,
I'm a newbie here, but wanted to add that I got several calls last night too. I have recently started to "stray" so that Watchtower study had them calling me too. It's interesting how things work out...like someone said, only during a study like that, or the CO's visit do you matter.
Thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone.
