  American Idol again

  anyone have any thoughts on american idol lately.. i was really dismayed when they voted jennifer off two weeks ago.

  it looks like she will still have a career though.. john stevens is just so nice but he needs voice lessons, as paula suggested for him.. who do you think will win?.

  at this point, i think it's between diana and latoya.

  Just when Jennifer hits her stride, she gets voted off.

  My boy, George, has been very disappointing the last few times. He had better get it together or he is gonna be a goner.

  I'm not sure what to think about Fantasia.

  LaToya is the best singer in the competition.

  Diana is very good, but I have to agree with Simon, she acts, and sounds, like she came through the pagent circuit.

  I like Jasmine, but knock it off with the hands already! She good, but not exceptional at this point.

  There doesn't really seem to be a front runner. They have all, for the most part, had their good and bad performances.

  i am new here and i have never been a jw, however by boyfriend has been one for most of his life.

  he is now kicked out of the church.

  i have to deal with his pain over the experiences he tells me about in regard to his association with this church and i don't know how to help him.

  i've lost old hotmail accounts and the old account info that went with them.

  but it is me, es, essie, esmerel/alda, in addition to anything else obscene i may be known by in these parts.. i just pounded this out in pure frustration.

  i'm probably going to get heckled for posting it but what the hell, there isn't anywhere else i can go where people will get this, and i can't keep it inside, it has got to go somewhere before my brain explodes.. so here it is.why did i go to that restaurant today?

  I don't kow if we have ever posted to each other, but you crossed my mind the other day, not why sure, when I was browsing the board, how you were, your daughter, your health.

  I don't know if there was some meaning behind your meeting of an old JW friend, but I'm glad you got to tell her about your regret in first meeting her. If she knew what you knew, maybe circumstances behind the meeting would have been different.

  Yes, indeed, it SUCKS a big red one sometimes.

  And other times, I can't imagine that it could get better.

  Then, there's all of the in betweens.

  I can't tell you there is some grand meaning on the end of all of this. The joy, the pain, the loss.

  All I can say is that I think you're one cool bitchin' chick and it will feel better soon.

  Did your family ever makeup holidays?

  this may sound funny, but my family would celebrate every year a " gift day".

  it would be in december but never the week of christmas.

  we would get gifts for each other and have a family meal.

  I can remember as a kid, our family, including extended JW relatives, doing a huge gift exchange during the month of June. What stands out is how excited my Mom was shopping for everyone. Of course, I liked it too. We didn't do it after that because of a huge family fallout, which my family not being active JWs being an issue.

  When we started celebrating "Xmas" when I was 10, my Dad (who wasn't active but still "believed") made it clear that we weren 't actually celebrating Xmas (we were not allowed to have a tree, we just stacked the presents in the corner) or the birth of Christ. That we just happen to be exchanging gifts on the same day that everyone else celebrated Xmas.

  you know, i have the lingering suspicion i will never have children.

  that's right, no little bradley's or bradettes to worry about.

  here's my logic: i left the dub's two years ago (almost) and am still a couple years away from a degree.

  question: why are humans worth more than animals?

  ok putting religious reasoning aside what is a rational reason why humans are viewed worth more than higher animals?

  why is a human worth more than lets say a chimp, a pig or a cow?.

  neurophysiological studies show that animals suffer probably just as much as humans....but similar to little children they cannot understand the pain and express it as human adults can.

  what is interesting is when i did a search on the aljazeera news web site for her name (rania al-baz) absolutly nothing was found.. .

  ok now i will cause an outrage but a woman does not completely lose her children after a divorce (at least not in egypt...maybe in saudi arabia). the children stay with the father he has the costudy. but they are free to visit their mother. its pretty much the reverse situation to what is going on in the west.

  Not to worry, no outrage here. That, perhaps, is true in Eygpt. It's absolutely not true in Iran and Saudi Arabia. However, notice how the custody, in Eygpt, still goes to the Father, automatically. They are free to visit? That's a good thing. But, what about making parenting and childraising decisions? That would be up to the decretion of the Father on whether or not Mom would be able to even participate. The kids are his property, after all. I suppose when, how often, and where would be up to the Father. I don't think that the west, though, should get up on their progressive moral high horse. It wasn't that awful long ago that women were considered chattle, couldn't own property, or vote, on this side of the planet. Quite frankly, the main item that eliminates subjection is money. It was when women could keep, and make money, and own property, is when it changed. In other words, western women were able to flip the financial middle finger. And so when Muslim, and other poor women, are able to do that, their plight will change.
