  i realize that the contents of this thread may enflame the passions of those on all sides of the house.

  if your sensibilities are easily damaged, you take yourself to seriously, or your humor is wanting, then be warned this may not be the thread for you.. i have been reading with interest a thread on this board today that is discussing the treatment of us veterans.

  i have noticed that when such subjects are discussed there is an automatic assumption that those who don the uniforms of their respective nations, they somehow are automatically walking on a higher moral ground.. i find it all the more puzzling that those who cry the loudest for 'special' treatment for soldiers, and by special i mean as compared to the rest of the working masses, seem to be of an republican bent.

  They are heroes, and can be villainized by "moralistic" people. They deserve respect, as they are just doing their job, and are dignified in their duty. I lean Democrat, and I respect them fully.

  when i was active, i was always (usually) proud to talk about being a jw, our faith, reasons for our stupid beliefs on birthdays, x-mas, etc.

  now with everything i'm going through, given how much of an impact this is to my life, i want to talk to others about it, like coworkers, and other friends.

  but thinking about how i would explain how it's a mind-controlling cult, i feel stupid for falling for it.

  I was much more embarrassed when in the cult that out of it.

  I hated school and all of the stuff we kids went through. The flag salute, the Pledge, the pep sessions, et al. I can claim my independance from these now. I only share this with those who really care though. Many people do not put themselves in your place, even my last GF couldn't or wouldn't do that.

  They just think you are a freak.

  (a long exhaustive breath because it is wasted on so many people that do not have a clue)

  c of c opened my eyes on how the gb makes decisions.

  i used to think that they must have prayed a lot together and then had moments of enlightenment from god.

  gensis just doesn't fit watchtower logic....gen 2;19 adam names the animals but "no suitable helper {mate} was found" amongst them, so god creates eve..... is there anything in genesis you don't get?.

  yesterday i had a little breakdown...laid down for a nap and woke up 17 hours later!

  not so unexpected, just never done that before.. the first thing that came to my fogging brain this morning was that in a week i am moving.

  back to colorado and to a town where i know hundreds of jw's.

  I have read through your thread, and have felt the bifurcated feeling you are experiencing. I wish that this cup could be taken from you, but pain is necessary to facilitate future growth.

  As for writing a DA letter, I am afraid that the elders will try to meet with you anyway after sending it. You meeting with them is probably not an option, unless you flat refuse to. You can probably put it off, but it will be like living in limbo, not knowing when they are going to show up.

  I am available to talk any time.
