Your comparson of the WT to a big ship brings up to my mind something a I read years ago.

Edgar Cayce was known as the sleeping prophet, because he brought up messages while in a trance /sleeping state.

Back just before 1925, someone asked him a question that I assumed came from someone acquainted with the teachings of Rutherford at that time. Their question was, what about 1925, will anything happen then?

Cayce's reply back then, (from memory) was that the promoters of this 1925 prediction was like a big ocean liner that was shipwrecked on a big rock, it was not going anywhere.

I have tried to locate that account, but it was in a big fat book, and I was never able to find it again. I should get the book from the public library again and do a page by page search for it.

Also, the Bible does not say that the two witnesses are "eye -witnesses" as the WT claims. That is wt-speak.

The Bible says at the "mouth of two witnesses" . As the post link above says, the elders/judges of Israel were to make a serious enquiry about the matter.

So a doctor or an investigator, who is not an eye-witness to the event should be able to give testimony with his mouth such as dna evidence or other forensic evidence.

I was not aware that it has already been sent out to congregations. Many posts say that elders haven't got it yet.

In another post someone cited the subject on pedophilia and reporting it. I have just received the book, and browsed quickly about pedophilia reporting.

A couple of places it says the Elders should notify the Society immediately before taking action. If there is only one witness, they take little action.

The WT in previous pedophile cases tried to distance themselves from the actions of elders in the congregation. The Shepherd book shows how tied up the WT is tied up to the congregations.

I have to reread and scrutinize this further, and if all goes well, I will post again.

From what I read here on JWN, the book has not been sent out yet. Also it contains a bombshell for them on their policy of hiding pedophilia and advising elders to contact the WT society on certain subjects makes them legally responsible.

They may back peddle. They may take the stragegy of not sending it out at all.

What secret book? It is just a false rumor started by the evil apostates.

think of all the unintended negative effects of the changes.. the "generation".

axing the book study.. (you can add to the list).

all the changes are to enforce control over the sheeples.. as far as i can see they are alienating the flock.. elderly ones devastated because they are having to face their mortality.. the social isolation since the bs was removed from homes.. each change they have brought in has isolated and estranged the very ones who trusted this organisation.. like hitler in 1941, he did not realise that the war had already turned against him.. (interestingly, how many of the new uber gibbering buddy are of german descent - is there a connexion with their new mantra of "tohtahles obedientz"?).

I find the comment in the last sentence if your post intriguing. I always thought that there was a German influence on the structure of the WT organization. Rutherford tried appeasement with the Nazis in the thirties. Schnell, who wrote the book "Thirty years a WT slave" made the claim that the German WT organization was far superior to the American WT. He claimed that he (and perhaps others) came from Germany to improve the American organization. NH. Knorr was of German descent, I believe. When I was in Gilead, there was a co-student with a german name who was receiving grooming for some special work for NH Knorr.

The mantra of the WT has for years been, organization and obedience above all.

far removed from the degradation and vilification used by the watchtower society, is what god thinks of his redeemed children, something which could never destroy honest feelings of self-esteem or self-worth.

if god knows when a bird falls to the earth, and if he knows the number of hairs on a person's head, then surely his love transcends all weaknesses of the flesh, regardless of earthly position, or which truly christian association a believer choses.. god cares for those who are held in confused worship implemented by men, and understands when they fall.

Dear Brother Johnson,

Your account of how traumatizing and dismaying the words spoken at the annual meeting by a gb member affected you, brought back disturbing memories that affected me even to this day of a similar incident. I do not usually talk much of myself, but this time I will make an exception, to show you that I understand, you are not alone.

I am four years older than you are. I attended the class of Gilead in the class of 59/60 at South Lansing. It that time one of the instructors was Maxwell Friend, (his last name is his chosen misnomer, as he changed his Jewish name back in Germany in prewar days.) He taught public speaking or something similar. I had spent the previous five years before Gilead, pioneering in the province of Quebec. It was a tough place to be, mobs and arrests were still taking place from time to time. My heart was set in serving Jah with sincere devotion.

In Maxwell’s class, I was scheduled, to give a talk on a Wednesday. He had once made it known that if a sister had her period and felt she could not give her talk when scheduled then it could be postponed. She was supposed to give her talk on the Monday. He made it known to the whole class why she couldn’t give her talk. I don’t think any sister ever used that excuse again. The speaker scheduled for Tuesday, was not ready, so he turned to me. I don’t remember all the conversation, but the words: you are robbing Jehovah! Are seared in my memory to this day. After five years of labor in the pioneering field I was told I was robbing Jehovah.

In afternoons, my daily chores were to do the floors of the three classrooms and large auditorium and dining room. His desk was in his classroom. I was so troubled all afternoon, I couldn’t work, I had to do something so I cranked up the courage to approach his desk and tell him my feelings. There was no apology, or solace forthcoming. I must have gotten through to him though, for a few minutes after he left his desk and disappeared for the rest of the afternoon.

This expression, "robbing Jehovah", seems to be current vocabulary of those days. I remember another missionary girl telling me how Brother Knorr, told her class that if they got married (missionaries were not to get married for two years) they were “robbing Jehovah”

I do not have facilities for do a search of WT publications. I s it possible to search the literature to see if this expression is used elsewhere? Can anyone do it?

...Weird Ass Lights in the Sky...

good evening jwn!!...

as most of you know i live in a forest,in the mountains..at night there is very little light pollution... so the sky is one big theatre screen... i see shooting stars,northern lights,satellites,planes on a destination..it`s all very beautiful... tonight was different... .

tonight there was something in the sky that defied anything i`ve ever seen... it had multiple aircraft lights but not like regular airplane lights..it wasn`t a helicopter... it could go straight up or down... move in one direction then head in another..it could do all kinds of weird stuff... sometimes it just hovered..then start doing all these weird maneuvers... regular aircraft is going somewhere,it`s headed in a direction..not this thing... i watched a regular airplane pass it... .

Highway 20 is closed off in two places caused by torrential rains and have been closed for a number of days now. Highway report says repairs are under way and no doubt they are working 24/7 to make repairs.

What you are seeing is a reflection of the lights of the construction equipment. Whenever a machine moves, its flashing yellow light reflects from the mist, clouds, fog on the other side of the mountains. Some lights would be stationary, and may be arranged in a large triangle that is being reflected.

Am I right or not?

Bethel Rules

Does the following account have any validity?

Around 1970 I was working for a JW renovation contractor around Montreal. All those working for him were JWs. One worker had just come from Brooklyn Bethel where he was a cook. He told us that in the cooking department saltpeter was put in the food to lower the sexual ardour of the inmates. We all denied the allegation, but he was extremely adamant that this was so.

I looked up saltpeter on the net, it has been used for centuries in armies and prisons etc to lower sexual drive in cloistured groups of men.

The present day concenus is that saltlpeter does not have that effect.

Does anyone who was in Bethel have any thoughts on this matter. Was it really so?
