  I'll give JanH a little benefit of the doubt. I believe English is not his native tongue. He says:

  He does not say the WTS is responsible for all their ills and problems.

  The WT is responsible for many, many problems in peoples lives.
  poverty, fear, broken marriages, stunted youth, ignorance etc. Can you tell me some problems that they are not responsible for? Not world events, but personal and family and societal problems.

  I'm not being ornery here, I just don't think he meant it like you point out.

  there was some discussion here over the weekend concerning recollections of the australian branch engaging in commercial activities in the past.. the proclaimers book has a discussion of this and for those who may not have read it, i've 'cut and pasted' it here:.

The above quote seems to indicate that it was the branch that originated the idea. If I remember rightly, this scheme idea originated in Brooklyn. Branches do not originate schemes like this on their own.

  Here again in your quote from the Proclaimer's book, we see collective Brother Some show up once again, Brother Some who always shows up with a conscience.

  do co's and do's have actual residences?

  my understanding is that constantly travel so they wouldn't really have need of one, would they?.

  Many years ago, DOs and COs travelled constantly living from a suitcase and trunks of their cars, along with their wives. They stayed in publishers homes constantly. Wives had same schedule of service as their husbands. Many cracked up. It was a hell of a way to live.

  Later, the benevolent Society allowed the travelling servants to locate in a central home base and their wives were relieved of much of their tedium. One district servant's wife I knew, and really felt sorry for, she finally cracked up, she was forced to sit through on Saturday nights, hundreds of times while her husband narrated and show the Societies film , New World Society in Action.

  Now regarding what DOs do when there is no circuit assemblies is they go serve with the CO for a week and counsels him on his activities with one cong or another. That is the way it was when I was in. Maybe some one else can post any changes that have taken place since then.

  if you live in the united states and you have german ancestors that left their home country in the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century it is likly that they left germany via the harbor of hamburg.. the city of hamburg has begun to scan all emigrations lists.. you can do a search here:.

  Dear Gjw,

  I have been waiting for someone who knows German to show up as I need someone to look something up.

  Have you ever heard of a person called Stormberger?
  He was a mystic or prophet or whatever and lived late nineteenth century. He prophetised about forty years before l914 that World War would break out. He also prophetised the second world war and also that the Germans would lose. So Hitler had all his books and writings destroyed.

  If you look up the name Stormberger in a search engine a whole bunch of articles show up, but most of them are copies of one another. There are many references in German that I can not read.

  Now I see that you have a method of locating German emmigrants. If Hitler destroyed the predictions in Germany, perhaps German decendants in other countries have these predictions and they were not destroyed.

  It would be interesting to find a link betweeln Russell and the 1914 prediction. He certainly did not get it from the Bible because he is out twenty years. I believe a lot of German immigrants settle in Pennsylvania, Russell's home territory.

  If you are insterested in this subject, I hope you can follow up on it. I am sure any efforts in this regard would be very appreciated by many on this board.

  once again stupid.. i read this book today about how evolution works, blah, blah... once again evolution shows it's ignorance and it got started by foolish humans who knoweth nothing at all... .

  they say rainbows only come out when and after it rains.. bs, cause just month i seen 2 rainbows together in the sky, in the afternoon, and it did not rain at all, infact it was'nt suppose to rain anyway... the facts: rainbows are from yahweh, but since christ is king right now, he brings out the rainbows, cause it's love and it's a sign of righteous.... so evolution can kiss my ass.. .

  btw y"all i was praying to jehovah god & jesus christ today, that i hope one day before armageddon, can you bring out some rainbows at night.. that would be cool, can y'all picture that?

  No sympathy...but maybe a little support!

  i'm heading down a path i think alot of you have gone down... and i'm certainly not looking for any sympathy here.

  i've read some experiences here and at other sites that shows me that alot of folks have gone through alot worse than i am.... basically, a year ago i left brooklyn bethel after a five year stint.

  already sick of structured man-worship, i struggled for while to pretend, but my heart wasn't in it.

  Joe,

  I'm glad to see you here.

  When I was young and going to high school, I never did my homework. and most days was apprehensive as to what would happen that day when the teachers called me on it. After a while, I realized that every night I came home and had survived the day.

  You seem to have made many good decisions so far, job, appartment etc.

  Just take one day at a time. Your parents may rant and rave but at the end of the day they will have to recognize and accept the facts.

  Who knows, you may be instrumental in them waking up also.

  Take care, keep us all posted, many of us have our e-mails open. I would be glad to hear from you any time and I know many others here of are of the same mind.
