  How do elders know when someone is ready to be reinstated?

  They make you write a letter requesting reinstatement and then meet with you to determine repentance. They can never really know if a person is ready or not to regain club privileges.

  first, let me start by saying i respect and honor the right of anyone to spread their message.

  i do not descriminate against anyones church.

  in the u.s. we are fortunate enough to enjoy that right.. that said, a jehovah's decided that the death of my father would be a good time to send a letter to my mother.

  There would have to be something seriously disturbed about a person sending letters of "condolence" to strangers. There have been instructions in the Kingdom Ministry not to use the KH as a return address.

  House Name Required.

  i want to give my house a name.

  lot's of my neighbours have already done this, so we have a plethora of name boards springing up in my road.

  (actually, i susupect it's a sort of snobbery so that people will know that it's not just another old house full of flats and bedsits but a privately owned whole house).

  Is it OK for men to cry?

  is it wrong for a man to cry when he feels pain, either physical or emotional pain.

  we all know that women cry when they become emotional, but for a man, is it appropriate or not appropriate to cry.

  is it seen as weakness for a man to cry?

  The area along the waterfront is currently being developed and the money people have their eyes on it.

  boy, this thread could go on forever ........ i just found out recently, about the pyramid theory by russell and the building rutherford had built for abraham's return ..... i never remember my family talking about these while we were growing up/going to meetings.. i guess the society tries to hide the embarrassment as much as posssible.. so what would call some of the most embarrassing moments by the watchtower (1879-2003), i am hoping to copy alot of comments and pass them on to my jw family.

  and hopefully other posters (lurkers) could find the info useful as well.. oh and please, if you can give more details on the two above i mentioned please do ........

  Alleymom, it's important to note when dealing with JW's they will always accept what the Society tells them. You can show them the original source but they will somehow reason their publication is completely correct and your book has something wrong with it.

  Preaching Work Complete!!! or is it?

  in 1989, we as jw's distributed and studdied many articles in the watchtower.

  i remember one study article in particular that indicated that the preaching work would end by the end of the 20th century.

  when the year 2000 came around, i searched bound volumes and the watchtower cd, but couldn't find the statement.

  Replacing 20th century with the phrase "in our day" would still raise the question: how long is that day? Well we know it's at least 14 years (and counting) long.

  Ex-JW Meet-Up: How Did Yours Go ?

  The people at the venue in the NY/NJ Meetup didn't know what a Meetup was. They asked me: "Who is she?" Then they directed me across the street. As I was looking across the street at the address they were trying to send me to, a man with no shirt came out of the door, then a woman with a skirt up to there and slit in it even higher. More unsavories soon came out.

  Needless to say I ventured no further. Eventually I found 2 others and we went to a McDonalds for about 3 hours.
