bridesmaids - meant to fool evil spirits when they came for the bride
eye makeup - used by pagan throughout history and only mentioned twice in the bible, both times used by evil ones. Hey isn't that what they say about birthdays?
i'm interested in developing a list of things jws are allowed to do that have "pagan" or otherwise "evil" origins in the eyes of the wts.
what types of things are you aware of?
so far i've got...... red lip stick (allegedly invented to distinguish prostitutes from non-prostitutes).

don't step on the ducks !!
three women die together in an accident and go to heaven.
when they get there, st. peter says, "we only have one rule here in heaven: don't step on the ducks!
And then there's the one about the three legged dog that walked into the saloon and said "I'm looking for the guy who shot my paw".
Get it? Paw. I kill me!!!
when the dubs say: "history shows that we are the only true religion, look only we preach the gospel to all the nations we do much more than all other christian religions put together.
" what do we say to them, it appears like an impressive record yet we somehow know it is false.
i note they no longer believe the end is necessarily near so what does all this preaching achieve?
Just ask the common person on the street about JW's and they will probably say the JW's don't believe in Jesus and don't celebrate Christmas. It just goes to show how effective their preaching work really is.
hey guys,.
i had the weirdest "kingdom hall" dream i've ever had last night.
so weird and fun, that i want to share it with you!
I looked down to find that I was already wearing a tie, but it was one of those thin 80's ties.
Hey, I resemble that remark. I had several of those. I remember them quite well.
I have to admit I was one of the sharper dresses teenage brother in my hall. Even had an electric blue double breasted suit that I wore with one of the cool thin 80's tie. I think it had piano keys on it. Ahhhhh, the good ol' days. Nothing like big hair and flashy clothes to say 80's.
i have just put together a table with percentages that highlights quite simply what a jw can and can not have.
the wts does not present it in this simple format, as graphically it is quite obvious how senseless their stand is.
.
Did you catch the little phrase they use to blame the R&F when the lawsuits start?
"When making such decisions, consider the following questions. Am I aware that refusing all blood fractions means that I will not accept some medications, such as certain ones that fight viruses and disease or that help blood to clot in order to stop bleeding. Could I explain to a physician why I reject or accept the use of certian blood fractions?"
They are throwing it all back on the publisher like they have always done. Bastards!!!!!!!
has anyone gotten involved in martial arts since they left the organization?
if so which ones and how advanced are you?
when i finish my third year of college this spring i'm going to start taking some classes, right now i just don't have the time with work and everything.
Do something a lil different, just dread going threw all the belts again.
Shera, remember it's not about the belt. It's about the training and learning the way of Karate.
You might like to read this book about the founder of Shotokan Karate. It's an awesome autobiography about his life and how Karate helped him.
i pulled a few muscles in my back last week and couldn't make it to church on sunday.
a deacon friend called and offered to usher and pass the (gasp) offering plate for me.
another friend called and prayed with me.
That's awesome. That's what friends are all about.
One of the reasons I left is when I was sick and needed help, none of the witnesses even called to check on me. Let alone come to visit. My "worldly" friends and workmates on the otherhand came to vist and brought me meals. Even my landlady let me slide on the rent since I was off work for two weeks. That really got me thinking about Jehovah's so called "loving" organization.

I've been doing Karate for almost two years now. It's one of the best things I've ever done. I really love learning and performing the different katas. Our's is an Okinawin style karate with low stances and powerful kicks and strikes. No board breaking either. I just attended a karate tournament this past weekend and got 1st place in weapons kata and open hand kata. I only got 4th place in kumite (fighting).
Good luck in your study of the martial arts. I know you will love it. Oh and by the way, I'm a green belt, should have my purple belt next month.
i work at a local hospital, in the admin section, and i took some paperwork out to the front desk on one of the wards this afternoon, and the receptionist, who i know well and count as a friend, started asking me about how life is treating me post - jw.
i'm sure we've had this discussion before, but i answered her, saying "better than it ever was in the jws".
she then asked how trev, who she has met a couple of times is, and when we are getting married.
OK, that's about the coolest things I've heard in a long time. I know most of us would love to do what you just did. Great job.
My wife is a nurse at our local hospital and has watched a couple of her patients die because of refusing blood. It really upsets her. It can be a very painful death.
