  This is what tears me up the most. A little baby only one day old had to die to save his parent's life. The parents didn't stop this baby from having blood to make sure the baby was resurrected. They refused the baby blood to save their own skin. God would never hold a one day old baby responsible for the parents decision. They say they would die for each other and their children, but this just goes to prove they would not. If these parents were willing to die for their child then they would have allowed the blood transfusion and let God kill them in some future Armageddon. They say abortions is wrong but it's OK to let a one day old baby die. What a messed up religion cult.

  New Light

  i watched a documentory on cults on the history channel last night.

  what jumped out at me was that they said that cults could not exist if they didn't get people to believe in "new light" and "present truth".

  the fact that they used those exact words sent a chill down my spine.. they also stated that cults are apocalyptic and believed heavily that god had chosen them to rule the new world after armegeddon.

  I saw the same program and those same words jumped out at me as well.

  I don't think the JW's will ever become violent. They don't have to. They already have their followers doing anything they say.

  Articles like this just prove one thing. That Satan was right all along when he and God argued over Job and weather man would worship God if they had nothing to gain. This article is telling people to worship God and survive. Not to worship God out of love. I wonder how many Witneeses or even Christians there would be if there was no prize at the end. Would people worship God if they had nothing to gain out of it. I highly doubt it.

  before the introduction of the largest library on the planet...the internet...did you young jws use the awake magazines as a source for doing your homework and trust the contents to be accurate for reports?

  i remember reading letters from readers just drooling with thanks for giving their kids the edge over those poor worldly kids who had to trapse to the library to do their research.

  In my world cultures class in high school we had to write a quick review of an new article each week. We were allowed to use any magazine we like. I always used the "Watching the World" in the back of the Awake mag. They were short and to the point. I always got a good grade on that assignment.

  I would say I don't miss the belonging to the witnesses. I never really felt that I belonged to a special group. I mean, you seen the other witnesses at the kingdom hall during the meeting but rarely ever seen them in between. I felt more comradery with some of my worldly friends. After I left I joined our local volunteer fire department and found great comradery there. In this group when you say you would give your life for your brother you might have to do it some day. Sadly I had to leave when the wife and I moved outside of the department run area. Recently I joined a local karate club. I've found great comradary here. It's a real family oriented organization that teaches self-defense along with self-confidence and respect of others. I have also found great companionship in the mountain bike community. I have a few friends that I ride with that are true friends. They don't judge you buy how well you ride or what kind of bike you have. They are just glad you are there.

  The main reason I visit this discussion board is to keep up with the JW organization. Since my family is still in I like to know what they are talking about when I visit and sometimes have a great response when they try to get me to come back. I like to know what there thinking is now.

  I've said it before, the only reason for a JW parent to refuse their child a blood transfusion is to save their own skin. Even if it was wrong, God would not hold a tiny baby or a small child responsible for their parents decisions. Some JW parents say they would die for their children, but this just proves that is a lie. If they would die for their children then they would allow the transfusion and let God kill them for it.

  where does their money come from??

  ive read a number of times about the millions the watchtower are raking in tax free..since ive been led to believe that people are not charged for their magazines could somebody clarify this and explain where all this money comes from?

  The public is not charged except for asking for a donation, however the R&F are strongly encouraged to donate enough to cover the literature the get to use in the door to door work.

  Guilting people into giving money means millions of bucks.

  ok, for those of us non-, and never before-jw's, will someone please explain what the big deal is about having responsibility for microphones is all about?

  we do use microphones in our church, but ....i mean whoever is in charge of any technology that day sets up microphones.

  it could be anyone in the church, male or female, young or old, the pastor, the janitor.

  The only reason I did it was to make the meeting go faster. Getting to run around with a mic is better than just sitting there counting the ceiling tiles.

  Oh yeah, sometimes you got to see down a sister's blouse.

  I always wondered why the assemblies always ran with a deficiet.

  If any other company had training seminars (which is what an assembly is) that continually ran a deficit they would either stop having them or fire the person in charge.

  And it kills me how at the same assembly they tell you not to get an education to make a good living and then tell you to give that $20 in your wallet instead of the $5.

  I was just talking to my sister that is a die hard dub and she was so excited about getting a 4% raise that put her up to $9.40 an hour. The poor thing had to scrimp and save just to buy a $1000 piece of junk car. I've tried my best to get her to go to college to get a nursing degree but she refuses. My brother is studying and makes even less than my sister while trying to raise 3 kids and a grandkid. It's a shame that niether of them will get anywhere in life while being witnesses.

  I agree that I think that tithing is coming. It's the only way the society will be able to maintain there cash flow. People will choose food and shelter over donating anyday.
