How did you come to JWD ?
by oldflame ini came to jwd back in 2001, i was under a different name then.
i do not remember if i was introduced by gumby who is a dear friend of mine or if i had found this site through freeminds.org i was when i first came here pretty bitter as i went through pure hell with the jw faith and my family who are jw.. i was ready for a fight, and ready to rip anyones head off if they crossed me wrong.
i was bitter at the religion for almost fooling me twice as i was a mormon in my teenage years.

Former Bible Study Wants to Talk...
by tall penguin inokay, here's the update.
i sent an email to my former bible study after a phone conversation we had where i told her i'd disassociated myself.
in the email, i included information about the shunning practice (which she had no idea about).

Keep it simple Tall Penguin.Looks like some people have offered you some really good information to work with.Just remember,it's the WTS that has to be accountable for their lies. The burden of proof lies with them, not you.Just present your material in a simple, clear manner and hopefully their eyes will open to it.

How many are still in the "I want to argue scripture stage?"
by free2beme inwhen i left the witnesses, i picked up a bunch of christian books on what the bible says.
isn't it weird that you have to have so many books, just to tell you what another book is saying?
anyway, i went through this phase where i still wanted to argue scripture with people.

I prefer to reason on the scriptures, which is actually impossible with jehovah's witnesses.Their beliefs are all set for them and the vast majority of them live in denial.

Did You Regularly Read The Watchtower & Awake?
by minimus inelders were supposed to set the lead so that the rank and file would follow suit.
i generally read the watchtower thoroughly but seldom did i read the awake.
were you faithful readers of those rags?
-
Goldminer
No,and I often wondered if the people who took them even bothered to read them.

Your family shoved you in the back corner? To teach you a lesson? To shame you into submission? Shows how much they love and respect you.Hope you left early.

Did the JW religion add stress to your life?
by JH ini was very stressed when i was an active jw.
i hated going to meetings, knocking at doors, preparing meetings and so on.. i hated talking in front of a group.
there was too much to read and to prepare, and never felt like i was good enough.. last night i took a walk and passed in front of the book study where i was just a few months ago.

Very much so,especially when my service report went back to zero on the first of every month. Now my whole christian being was to be judged based on my next report, and so on every month till armageddon;and then if it was judged that my reports were too low (token service) I might still not make it into the "new system" even though I had a regular service report for many years.
Going out in service also stressed the snot right out of me.Even though at one time I could easily quote hundreds of scriptures, when I went to a door I just went blank and just wanted to go home and hide.
Always trying to measure up stressed the hell out of me!!!!
