since jwd is closing down, i guess i'll be going back to the meetings..................seriously.. i will be at every ca, dc, and special day assembly.. i will also pray for you......................and i mean pray.
some of you will get specific special prayers.. mary, i will pray for you every sunday.
i just hope i don't get struck by lightning.
Awwwww..... I feel so comforted by your words. Take care Warlock!
never thought i would be, but now i've watched 3 versions of sense and sensibility, 2 versions of pride and prejudice, 2 of persuasion, and 2 of emma.
also saw one of mansfield park, but i didn't like it that much.
there's only one left that i haven't seen--northanger abbey.. .
I like Austen's Pride and Prejudice the best. Also, I like to read Charles Dickens. I feel the books are far better than the movies.
over the decades musicians rise and fall like a spring wind.
some stay where they should never be, some never are where they should be; such is the roulette of time.
this thread is dedicated to singer songwriters who influence the rest of the best, but are seldom known - 'gamblers in the neon, clinging to guitars...' .
Janis Ian
anyone?.
just seeing if anyone from my fair state has escaped the cult and is here.
i'm always hoping.
Born in Red Oak... moved to Des Moines and then to Milwaukee, WI.
You do know you Iowa folks have a Southern accent, right?
juni and i were talking, and she vaugely remembers brown bag lunches provided for the dc at the racetrack in chicago, it was either when she got on the bus or off the bus.
anyone remember that practice in chicago or elsewhere?
she also mentioned the porta potties at the racetrack.......how awfull they were.
Actually all of this fun happened at the White Sox Stadium in Chicago, IL. back in the 70's. Sitting on those hard seats, which were meant to be used for a couple of hours, was painful. Actually the Hawthorne Racetrack years were not wonderful either. Dirty and little food... in those days you were not to bring in food or go out to eat.
Thanks Ooompa.. you confirmed this wasn't a false memory. The brown bag lunches were good and usually pretty healthy.

my husband forwarded this to me a few hours ago: .
birth of a hummingbird.
keep in mind the egg is smaller than a tic tac and a quarter fits the opening of the nest!
Thanks parakeet!
Beautiful, fascinating little bird. I love watching them flit about.. actually they are quite friendly w/humans.
An especially cute baby bird is the mourning dove. Looks just like the parents at an early age.
in the farkel writes a book thread, he mentioned gedanken, who was one of the more interesting posters on the old h2o.
it reminded me of him and some other posters i enjoyed but miss now.
what's the story with gedanken?.
hey Mary!
I agree. Those were the days. I miss those guys too. Wonder if the Gumbster has opened his "business" to franchising?
i'm so excited.
i got it friday and i've been converting all my cd's to itunes and loading them on my ipod.
this is my first ipod.
hey noni!
I just bought myself a Sansa Clip MP3 player - 1G and the charger all for the low price of $63.00 incl. tax. It also has an FM feature which I programmed in my favorite stations. When I get some time from studying I will be downloading music too. Only holds about 250 songs, but the price was right.
Isn't it fun to use? I love having it w/me during my speed walking every morning. Just have to watch how loud I sing... hee heeee
