  Domestic Violence?

  has anyone ever addressed the incidence of domestic violence in witness families?

  i am relatively new here and don't want to cover old ground.. thinking back, i can name multiple examples of households in each congregation i attended where domestic violence was evident.. i have an active protective order against my ex.

  who is still active in the congregation he attends.

  Neyko's post to me is inescpable evidence to me as to why the WTS should not allow untrained elders to deal with domestic situations. From what he's described it seems evident that his dad has some kind of mental disorder that makes him unable to control his emotions. He also seems to have trouble thinking rationally.

  Neko, it seems you Dad would do well to get some sort of counselling. If he could see a mental health professional I wouldn't doubt that he would recieve some type of diagnosis and some prescriptions. Maybe you could suggest that somehow, though I ouldn't reccommend doing it face to face.

  Hey Black:

  I guess i kinda quick-faded myself. I didn't have any fam or extensive contacts in the org though. Although they were trying to make me a ministerial servant before I left. I also didn't know most of the stuff i know about the truew nature of what I was a part of.

  Assuming that you do know all those things about the org, I say you are taing the right course of action. You are not the guilty one here, so why should you risk losing all contact w/ your peeps. I don't think there's a point that big you need to make. I know your relationships are a bit strained, but do like Boozerunner said go ion your own terms, not the WTS's and their henchmen's. Try to stay in contact with your more liberal jw relatives and use caution and tact in your dealings with them. Who knows? You may be able to sow a few seeds w/ some of your fam along the way. However, you know how things and what you need to do. Just make sure it's what you want and not what anyone else wants.

  I was merely supporting Janh's arguments. I didn't agreewith everything he said. Like I said in my post, I wouldn't say their efforts were 90% responsible for the defeat of Germany. However, they had more significant effect than many realize.

  I'll be damned:

  I can't believe this but in this one I'm gonna side with JanH. What he's saying is a little known fact, but true. I won't say that russia was 90% responsible, but they definitely softened up Hitler's resources, no doubt. They weren't the first ones to enter Berlin by accident. Their tanks were the best used in the WWII by far. Their ground forces decimated the German Army on the Eastern front. That's a major reason why D-Day was such a great success. Hitler had to commit so many men to stop the Russian counterattack that he could not possibly muster the resources to stop the U.S. effort at Normandy. I've read more on this subject. I forget where though, I'll have to try to find the info somewhere in here. It was interesting though.

  it was beautiful, and all went like clockwork.

  even the little princess, (princess' little 3 year old) performed on cue, as the flower girl, dropping rose petals behind her mommy, who was a bridesmaid.

  Interesting you say that about your brother. "Worldly" religions(sorry can't think of a better term) imo are much more emotional. The music can really stir you up even if you really don't want to participate. I guess it's a bit unsettling to some ppl. I now think it's a wonderful insight into what makes ppl tick.

  Congrats to you and the fam. Glad to hear everything turned out nice. Churches ain't all that bad. I especially like Catholic Cathedrals, they are some of the most beautiful buildings.
