First mention of the Catholic Church
by Amazing1914 inas i am completing a paper for brci, i found something quite interesting.
the very first mention of the "catholic church" was made in the year 107, in st. ignatius letter to the smyrnaeans.
st. ignatius was bishop of antioch for forty-years, being appointed by the apostle peter.

Counsel for Mormons on when doubts arise. PUT ON BLINDERS!
by PaNiCAtTaCk inmormon quote
should doubt knock at your doorway, just say to those skeptical, disturbing, rebellious thoughts: 'i propose to stay with my faith, with the faith of my people.
i know that happiness and contentment are there, and i forbid you, agnostic, doubting thoughts, to destroy the house of my faith.

Here is a question asked to a Mormon and look how he responded!
Question" How do you explain DNA tests that confirm Native Americans are not descended from Jews?
Mormon Answer "I accept the results of the tests, but not the way they have been interpreted. The tests only show that no Israelite ancestry has been found as yet among Native Americans, and that the Native Americans are primarily of Asian descent, which is NOT the same as saying that Native Americans cannot have any Israelite ancestors.
Wow! Amazing how close the mentality is! Analogy Just because evidence hasnt been found AS YET to support Jerusalems fall in 607, doesnt make it wrong! Just because Thousands of tablets have been found that disagree with 607, doesnt mean one wont turn up to support the Watchtowers view!

here is another quote taken out of context. Maybe you could paste the whole article for us, so that we could see the "wonderful gems of truth", in full. I started working with an LDS and im researching the prophet and god he follows. So far it looks as if he is following the same one I used to. Thanks in advance!
God promised in the year 1832 that we should, before the generation then living had passed away, return and build up the City of Zion in Jackson County; that we should return and build up the temple of the Most High where we formerly laid the corner stone. He promised us that He would manifest Himself on that temple, that the glory of God should be upon it; and not only upon the temple, but within it, even a cloud by day and a flaming fire by night. We believe in these promises as much as we believe in any promise ever uttered by the mouth of Jehovah. The Latter-day Saints just as much expect to receive a fulfilment of that promise during the generation that was in existence in 1832 as they expect that the sun will rise and set to-morrow. Why? Because God cannot lie. He will fulfil all His promises. He has spoken, it must come to pass.

chill out. I was researching JW stuff and that quote came up, and only that quote(not the whole article). Im not saying there isnt anything good or positive about the article, i was simply pointing out the JW like mindset. Of course it was written for Mormons already programmed, and emotionally enslaved to the mormom ideology. " Just because you have a hard time agreeing with Josephs false prophecies and his adultery filled lifestyle and his use of divination is not a reason to doubt. In fact there is never a reason to doubt! How many of his eye witnesses walked away from his teachings? Is it true when they exposed him as a fraud that Joseph smith called them all liars?

Mormon Quote Should doubt knock at your doorway, just say to those skeptical, disturbing, rebellious thoughts: 'I propose to stay with my faith, with the faith of my people. I know that happiness and contentment are there, and I forbid you, agnostic, doubting thoughts, to destroy the house of my faith. I acknowledge that I do not understand the processes of creation, but I accept the fact of it. I grant that I cannot explain the miracles of the Bible, and I do not attempt to do so, but I accept God's word. I wasn't with Joseph, but I believe him. My faith did not come to me through science, and I will not permit so-called science to destroy it'. Author: Thomas S. Monson Source: Ensign Volume: February 2001 Chapter: 5 Page: 6 -

Hi, glad to have you here. We have some things in common. I also suffer from anxiety just like your wife, hence the name, panicattack:) I felt the same as you. I felt if there was a problem with any of the societys teachings, it would fall into the .1 percent range. Unfortunately when I started researching for myself, deep into the literature, I found that the number got alot bigger. Unfortunately for you, you have to believe 100 percent of what they teach as truth, to be a JW. Just like your wife, when I stepped down from my responsibilities in the hall, my anxiety was almost gone! Even though I felt alot better, I also found out that all my friendships in the hall were based on my performance as a JW. My wife and I both walked away from the org with our 6 year old and our sanity. We have been very happy with our decision and with all the free time:) I also got my first tattoo 3 months ago and I love it! I look forward to your next post

digging in old books
by digglina ini'm new on this board and currently an inactive jw.
although lurking for several months i only just registered.
i was wondering if any of you took the trouble of going through old books of the wtbts and if it made you come to any conclusions.

Hi, welcome to the board! I also have a mountian of very old books. One of the things that hurts the society the most is the crazy paper trail that they have left. Its so wonderful that we have the internet to share these wonderful gems of truth to others who dont have the old light to research

Putting the world on notice! Like anyone cared!
by free2beme ini remember a few district conventions, and some parts in the witness history books, that had these leaders of the witnesses claiming to put the world on notice.
what a joke, did they actually have some warped idea that government leaders were actually paying attention to them and shaking in their boots.
i would doubt that their words even made it beyond the neighborhoods we preached in and unless the mayor of that small town was behind one of those doors, it was unlikely that anyone in government cared or listened.

Now that Ive been out for several months I AM AMAZED at just how small and trivial the jw's are to the rest of the world. When I was an active witness I felt that the whole world was out to get us, now i realize nobody give a flip about some weird cultish religion known as JW's. And after all that preaching nobody has any idea was the witnesses even believe. I will even go a step further. You can ask most witnesses what they believe on certain issues, and they cant even tell you there current belief.

What is now the most accurate Bible to buy??
by WingCommander innow that i've read ray franz's part about how his uncle and others with little actual greek or hebrew training translated the bible into the nwt, i've been interested in finding the best bible out there is correctly translated by people who know what the hell they are talking about.
niv?
i've also been looking at other religions lately, ones that are "somewhat" close to the jw's teachings to an extent, and have been interested in seventh day adventists.

please research the 7th day adventists before you visit them. I think you will find they are judgemental finatics with a whole new set of black and white rules you must follow to gain salvation!
