Interesting post. I have friends of all religious backgrounds. And now that I read your post, not one of those friends have said anything that some JW's are saying. Religious background has not even been a topic for discussion. But total concern for ANYBODY that is a victim or loved one of a victim, is all I've heard from them. I still shake my head in disbelief at the callousness and selfishness that I used to have as a JW. So sad. And yet so eye-opening for me today.
Andi
PS: DIM - it should be posted as many times as it'll take to shake JW's up and realize their love for others is VERY conditional. I'm hoping these posts hit every JW lurker's heart.
i just got reinstated about 3 months ago and i am still trying to adjust.
i got baptized right before i turned 16, got disfellowshipped not even a year later.
then another year later i get reinstated.
airwlk149,
I was DFed when I was 19. I worked so hard to get reinstated and finally gave up. I understand what you're going through. The whole shunning situation was so extremely painful and conditional. I just knew that God loved me even though I had sinned. It was eventually the shunning that made me question God was with this organization. I hope you do well in your journey, dear. You have many friends here on this board that understand and will love you. Email me if you'd like to.

i have seen reference here to some of the posts on witnessesonline.com (wol) in response to the horrific events of yesterday, september 11, 2001.. please allow me to express a few different thoughts.. first of all, what happened yesterday was, just as president bush described it, despicable.
in making this attack, the attackers showed complete and utter disregard for human life.
those who commandeered the plane, knowing their ultimate goal, had no consideration for their own lives.
Nicodemus,
Thank you for sharing your heart! It's good to know there are still some good, kindhearted JW's around. But I still would like to hear your answer to AlanF's question:
Why do you stay with a religion that produces so many who hold opposite values?
Christian love,
Andi
i have tried to tell my story several times.... and faltered.
with much kind encouragement, i will try one more time.
my story is not a short one ... please bear with me.
BobsGirl,
Your kindness and wit in chat has been such an encouragement to me when I've not felt up to par. You have spiritual gifts. You have skills. Many which you may not have been if it weren't for your horrible experiences. I often look back to my past and physically grimace over the pain. I would never wish my past on my worst enemy - yet I wouldn't change a thing! It has made me into the woman I am. Thank you for inspiring in me, even more courage and strength. You have much to give this world. I'm glad you're here to give it!
Christian hugs,
Andi
i just like to give everyone my account as to how i lived thru this tragedy.
i worked on the 70th floor at 2wtc as an employee of morgan stanley.
i was supposed to be in early but decided to go make it late.
(((Exodus))) (((Sis)))
My goodness - I had no idea that you worked there. So many in chat over the last several days were wanting to know if any of our posters were affected. I'm sorry to hear that you were one of them. But how wonderful that you're alive! Please know that you and your sister are in my prayers.
Love,
Andi
i thought you folk in the states might like to know how things stand this side of the pond.. sky news interactive showed that 90% of those polled thought that the uk should join with the us military in attacks on countries harbouring terrorists.. the the entrance to the us embassy in london is stacked high with flowers and tributes, the fdr statue in particular has also been similarly honoured.. flags all around the country are at half-mast.. the queen ordered that the daily changing of the guard ceremony at buckingham palace should feature the usa national anthem, this has never happened before at such a nationalistic event.. the famous last night of the proms at the albert hall and hyde park has been restructured to honour the american dead.. it is know that several hundred brits were in the trade centre at the time of the attack.. i just wanted you people to know that your country is by no means on its own in this crisis.

Thanks for sharing! That truly makes my morning! This tragedy convinces me that MOST people are innately good. Many are misled and brainwashed, but MOST are innately good.

i think i have lost weight from throwing up so much from reading wol.. women have lost husbands, men wives, children, family, friends, and co-workers, and she is home alone, while her husband works overtime for her sorry ass.
hey, here's a thought, why don't you get off your whiney butt and go help somebody?
oh no, feel sorry for yourself and pray, yeah, that's the ticket.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm typically very compassionate, but I'd have to agree with you on this one. With the thousands of people that are dead, she has to sit on her butt and feel lonely because her husband is (indirectly) helping others?
WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!
god bless america!.
this, from a canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.. america: the good neighbor.. .
widespread but only partial news coverage was given.
Hojon,
Those people are truly heroes in my eyes! Thanks for posting it!

it makes me sick when my grandfather calls people "dirty japs.
" people tell me it isn't his fault...he went through the war and is a victim of propaganda.
it is so sad when people actually believe that a whole group of people is bad.
Amen Sister! Thanks for an awesome post!

Even though I'm a generation or two removed from the generation of WWII, it's still hurtful when people make "Jap" comments to me. I'm half-Japanese, but pure 100% American. It's still hurtful to hear those things. It IS a big deal. It STILL hurts. It accomplishes NOTHING. There is NO excuse!
I do everything possible to teach the children in my life that THAT type of attitude and behavior is unacceptable and is NOT beneficial. If I only make a difference in one person's life, my job will have been successful!
