while i acknowledge your statement that your position would not change even if the un question did not exist, i'd like to share some information i've just acquired on that matter.

I think it awesome that your dad isn't being the rabid JW by foaming at the mouth while he curses you! Haha! Seen many of those in my limited experience and on this board even!

But something to think about...ask him why people can be disfellowshipped for just being a member of the YMCA for exercise purposes. They aren't endorsing YMCA's purpose, but just a member to make use of their work out equipment. Ask why people can get disfellowshipped for working for cleaning companies that clean goverment offices. They aren't endorsing the government, just emptying the wastebaskets!

well, i'm finally reading coc, and i must tell you that despite already being an ex-dub i was *shocked*.

the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.

maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?

Advocate: A person who speaks or writes in support of some cause, arguement or proposal.

Ray Franz will be the first to tell you he will not advocate anything. He happens to believe himself a Christian and states that. Just because he states what he believes in, doesn't mean he is advocating anything. It impressed me that he left people to make their own decision. He is not judgemental in either direction. He knows his limits and he knows it's not his place. That's impressive to me.

I guess the thing that made the biggest impression on me is how cold-blooded and cold-hearted the GB was with Ray and his friends. They didn't want to hear the full story. Their minds were made up before they even confronted him. Yeah - that's godly alright. Makes me sick to think that as bad as Ray's situation was, it is only one of thousands of Judicial Committees that have taken place and wronged a member.

Who should and who shouldn't?

i should get alot of different oppinions here but that is what i want.

i was looking up who should partake of the bread and wine, and who should conduct bible studies.. in the bible, jesus does the last supper with his apostles.

some people call them saints now or annointed ones.

I'm not sure what "churches" you're referencing or how much actual experience you have with them, but your statement is too general.

Many women in many churches conduct bible studies. I have been affiliated with two different denominations since the JW's. Both of them allow the women to conduct Bible Studies. Unsupervised. For the church I am attending now, anyone can conduct a BS if they have the desire and the knowledge. This is NOT something that is taken lightly either. Taking the time to prepare for a BS (hours) and then actually doing it, is a huge undertaking. But then again it is not something that members are forced to do either. We aren't asked to count the time doing it. Most church leaders don't micromanage the members evangelism time. Thus the difference between many churches and JW's.

i have had several people on this board request that i show the softer side of who i am as a person -- as well as share my feelings in regards to the divorce my husband and i are about to go through.

i have used the forum (past tense) as an outlet for stress.

i think i met my husband for a reason.

I've said this in personal emails, but I think it warrants being put up publicly. Mommy is correct. You have room to grow. But who doesn't??? Just within a few months you have grown dramatically. I've noticed it and others have noticed. Rejoice over that amount of growth. I know you understand there is much more to be done. But right now enjoy the fact that you've come along way. When people fail to see what you've accomplished and try to focus on what else needs to be done, they are missing the gift of the moment. Don't do that to yourself dear. You deserve more! Personally, I'm proud of you. I look forward to seeing you stretch and grow even more, sweetie! I hope you get to watch me grow too.

it seems that my posts make too many of you "uncomfortable," you have an "intuition," you "can't put your finger on it," whatever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

i thought this was a place where people can post and be heard.

I've never thought you were a troll. But I will say I am disappointed with the fact that you are so willing to throw away all of us because of a few people. Does it really bother you that bad? Do you really care one way or the other if a few think bad thoughts? Grow up. Get over it. Move on. Or stick around and share and learn. Who cares what they think? You have as much right here as larc, Fredhall or anyone else. One thing I DO think about JW's is that they don't know how to stick it out when the going gets rough. Please prove me wrong.

i love their names but i am tormented when i think of someday having a third child what could i name him or her?

can you help by suggesting other shades of blue including those in other languages.
