((((bona fide)))) sorry for your loss. i too, am emotional. i, like you, don't care if people see me cry. i lost a sister this year and i am still not doing well. i wonder about the resurrection hope also, but i take comfort in knowing that my sister is not suffering anymore. if i see her again, it will be a wonderful bonus in addition to knowing her while she was here. meanwhile, my deepest condolences. i still believe in god for now, so i will pray for you.

question on atheism vs. god

i have read dawkins "the god delusion", found it pretty interesting and helped me understand why athiests believe the way they do.
but i always have questions.....one that really bothers me about deism is the thought that god has always existed and always will, had no beginning and no end.

i am, for now a witness on the outside, and still believe in god most of the time. i have read Dawkins "the god delusion", found it pretty interesting and helped me understand why athiests believe the way they do. but i always have questions.....one that really bothers me about deism is the thought that god has always existed and always will, had no beginning and no end. this is one of dawkins' problem with deists. the bible says that(heb. 3:4) just as house had a constructor, god constructed all things. dawkins problem with this principle is that deists apply this to all creation except to god. i think its no more unrealistic to believe this about god than to believe that all things evolved. my lil' ol' brain can't really figure out eith one. i guess is what you want to believe. we humans live a life filled with a lot of trouble, and i wonder if we believe in god, not because it makes sense, but that belief hold out a hope/promise of something better, while atheism means you better enjoy what you got....its the only one you'll get. what do you think? thnx for putting up with my rambling on

disfellowshipping - what would happen? listen to my hypothetical scenario
by DaCheech inlets say you get disfellowshipped.. then move 1000 or more miles away.. how would the elders find out if you're df'd if you do the following:.
go to a local kingdom hall, ask for a bible study..... when asked for name change the first name slightly, then get re-baptized 4-6 months later.. do elders run your name through a list?
you would be a witness in mgood standing, just don't tell about your previous location details!.

you can't ever get baptized tho', unless you had a fake name. it would raise a red flag. i know personally of a brother who CLAIMED to not know he was df'd. he had moved far away from home, publisher card somehow got lost, had new one made up, married, wife a long time reg. pioneer. somehow a distant relative got in touch with elder in his hall, they made a few phone calls, found out he was df'd. when confronted, he CLAIMED he didn't know. the elders did not read a letter to new cong. since one had been read years ago, but made him act as df'd and tell anyone who approached that he was df'd. if i did not know him personally and an elder with a big mouth who admitted this(since we both worked with this guy occasionally was his reason), i would not believe it. the guy got reinstated in about a year and moved away.

anyone getting any of this ICE?
by SnakesInTheTower ini just had a lovely 64 mile round trip to my office this evening.. i should have left sooner, but survivor finale was on so i was distracted...left late... here in the midwest us, sunday started windy this afternoon and almost 60f...still 53 at 7pm...dropped to 40 and raining when i left the house at 1045...on the way home it had switched to ice...... and when i got back home and hit refresh on weather dot com, it was 30 at 1225am (little after midnight) ...on the way to 19 overnight.... not as bad as the 0 and below north of us in nd.... or the ice storm out east.... or as bad as the ice storm here in 06/07..... any one else getting it bad tonight?
