i just being told by an jw of the new tab on the un web page... peace and security... what gives and what do they claim now?

is the un crying "peace and security" on their eyes?.

the org boasts about the 18 million in attendance to the annual commemoration... in virtue of the fact that there are 7 million active publishers, there are perhaps several million children in attendance without mentioning the visit from former members (disfellowships, walkouts and faders) who pay annual hommage to the org due to their families and loved ones.... .

judging by your experience on your congregations weighting in the ratio of children, regular visitors and such...how much will you estimate the number of real 'visitors' to the commemoration?.

... i've been away for a while (actually 3/4 of a year) without posting.. besides saying hi, i wanted to gradually get to speed in everything going on jw land.. in the last year, what are the relevant news, blunders and scandals coming out of the wtbts?.

the celestial organization has moved and we are being left behind.

first the awake was going to a monthly issue.. buildings are being sold.. then came the 2005 service report and the stagnating figures around the globe.. then we all heard about the 2,500 bethelites sent packing off brooklyn and the 1,000s on the international branches.. when i first read the news i though they were sending out 2,500+ new apostates to the street.. i started to wonder how will they both address the simplifications and cost cutting and urge the rank and file to do more without pulling the big armageddon card out, since this has backfired on multiple occasions.

downsizing and activity were mutually exclusive imho.. well they are certainly clever.

Question about Hebrew...

question about hebrew:.

serendipity led me towards lamentations 3:38. the nwt renders this passage as follows:.

38 from the mouth of the most high bad things and what is good do not go forth.. most others translations render this as what it seems like a rhetoric question along with verse 37 & 39. since this alters the understanding of the passage, when does the use of question marks is warranted in hebrew?

I Swear, The Ancient Way

a little internet search revealed people acknowledging the fact that this was an ancient indo-european custom but shuffling about the latter meanings in latin of the word testis, testify, testicles.

does the bible implies this was the case in these passages?

was this a custom on the ancient times?.
