well, some here think that all we do is sit around a post naughty pics and do no charitable or volunteer work.
i thought we could see who does what for their respective communities.

My volunteer work is done on a grass roots level. I help coach and run a youth baseball/softball league. We have over 1200 boys and 400 girls in our league. We have just finished our regular season and playoffs start next week. Our town and league will host the World Series for 7/8 year old baseball.
I've never really kept up with the hours I spend at the ball field, but I only do it because I love it.
i couldn't think of a more descriptive yet short title.. the thread about kh cleaning stories got me thinking about my old kh and the story behind it.
thought i'd share it and hopefully some of you will add your own.. there's a couple of folks here who may know a little about my old hall of their own and may hopefully correct any misinformation i may provide or even add their own stories.
like most others, that old hall had actual apostates (ingram i think their name was) and its own (what hall doesn't, right?
Very interesting post. So many people have traveled through that part of Georgia, on the way to Florida, and never stopped to think about the people who make their home in a place like Perry.
Small towns are so interesting because they have such local legends and stories behind them. Where big cities have "urban legends," these towns have legends of their own.
a few weeks back, fred told us all that after a few weeks all would be ok at the kingdom hall.. well, i can't speak for everyone, but i will tell you that my wife hasn't been to a meeting since the program aired.
she is going through a stage here where she seems really depressed.

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I will tell you that my wife hasn't been to a meeting since the program aired. She is going through a stage here where she seems really depressed. She is spending time with her friends who are not JW's. She is mad at me for telling her the program was coming on and encouraging her to watch the show. She looked up the Silent Lambs web site and was very upset about what she learned there. She is seeing cracks in the society that she never admitted to seeing before.
The thing I hate is that it has affected her faith. She has always relied on the organization, and now she knows things she never bothered to learn or refused to learn.
This is a challenging time for our marriage. I want to encourage her but she can't look at religious matters without feeling the guilt that comes with being part of the society for so long.

my personal favorite: an elder once said to me at a circuit assembly back in the eighties (and why i don't remember...maybe i was smirking): "you think the devil is weak?

I'm just wondering, when you read the bible, do you read the New World Testament? Maybe a different translation would help. I really like the Living Bible or one I don't see much anymore called the Good News Bible. These translations seem to focus on the Grace of God and not the wrath of God.
I don't know how to stop your headaches, but I would bet its tied to the feelings of guilt you feel from your days as a JW.
If you really feel like reading something spiritual, try "The Power of a praying wife" by Stormie Omartian. I'm reading her book called "The Power of a praying husband" and it is really uplifting.
The book was only $6.98 and I found it at Wal-mart, so no old feelings of guilt brought on by going to a chirstian bookstore are neccesary.

I posted a topic concerning how I see paralells to your work and the "cleansing of the temple" by Jesus.
As Christians we should attempt to live our lives as Jesus would. Read Mark 11&12 and the related Gospels at Matthew 21, Luke 19&20.
These Gospels clearly tell of Jesus showing the Jews how thier practices regarding the temple were wrong. The chief priests and teachers of the law wanted Jesus to die for what he did at the temple.
As we know, the JW leadership wants to silence your organization. If they had the power, they might even want you to die. (A very good argument for seperation of church and state, by the way).
I hope these scriptures will help you in your ongoing work. May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all tomorrow.
it just amazes me.
i sent the articles on child molestation to a jw back in wisconsin and her response was "so?".
my son sent the articles to a jw couple he thought were friends and their response was that the victims should keep quiet so as not to bring reproach on jehovah's organization and then they went to the elders and accused my son and daughter-in-law of being apostates.. they can be so cold hearted and never miss a chance to back stab a best friend.. well, it did accomplish one thing.
The reactions you describe are amazing. However, I'm afraid, they will be typical.
The typical witness can't destinquish between the WTBTS and Jehovah God himself. Anything that is brought up as a negative towards the organization, is seen by the JW community as bringing reproach against Jehovah!!
