I've been out for 23 almost 24 years. I have even forgotten the names of most of them, have to struggle with a little help from my ex-jw husband. The WTS has taught that df'd people are like dead people, and those that just stop going are a spiritual danger to jws.

Costume dramas at conventions

Dramas changed over time.
One per district conventions (held in same venue at different times), different cast, homemade costumes mostly, supposed jws with good standing, right
Then very fancy sewn professionally costumes, with clothing props like shoewear and weapons. The elite among jws (those with money for costly costumes), took much time away from preaching for rehearsal and lip syncing.
Then one cast for several conventions. It became a status thing to be chosen.
Then technology came to be used, for films, only one cast (supposedly more experienced at acting) for all conventions in the US. Not sure how in other countries. So even more an elite group.
Very few,, current day situations, once again teaching jws to be like the Israelites or not, not like Jesus.

I think member numbers does not really reflect the true amount of effort jws spend in "effective" preaching. One reason the WTS last September was pushing the "bible study" program. Or the quality of the members as to really reflecting their god's principles, including Jesus' human one. I gauge that I what I saw jw individuals actually said, in cases behind the closed doors. Do other religions do this, I wouldn't be surprised. The WTS has long said that numbers were not an indicator of a religion being the true one. They have changed their tune. (Of note, the WTS put forth a media link to this report. Something I haven't seen done except in recent years)

Removed - blood card
by skin ini overheard a discussion between two jws, they said that when someone is disfellowshipped, they are asked to hand their blood card back to the elders.
i had never heard of this before, is this correct?.

The "blood" card was updated at one point, so current jws at that time were "encouraged "to get the new one throw away the old one. But not required returned from d'fd by elders. Meeting Workbook January 2024 Durable Power of Attorney (DPA) Card and Identity Card (ic): These cards outline a patient’s wishes concerning the medical use of blood. Baptized publishers can obtain from the literature servant a DPA card for themselves as well as an Identity Card for their minor children. These cards should be kept on our person at all times. If you need to fill one out or update one, do not procrastinate."

Because the WTS has constantly "adjusted" this document, the WTS wants the individual jw to have the most current, so the medical/legal community is not "confused" and everyone is on the same page, and destroy the old one. Does anyone remember when new cards were handed out at the old book study (small groups) and fill it out there and have the conductor sign it? WTS taking control of having it done.

That is the most recent I found on 1,335 days. This is a teaching that has fallen by the wayside, rather than "clarified" like the 7,000 year creative day, last mentioned in 1989 quoting from a 1987 publication. Books were edited to "correct" so that the WTS "encouraged" jws to get new copies rather than use older one! The links are linked to an ex-jw site, owner is an ex-Bethelite whose father is/was a circuit overseer. It is a timeline with quotes from WT publications and where it can be found in those.
