  Dealing with a non-JW (tongue in cheek)

  my other half's sister is dating a wb, (i'm a wg), she wants to know how to deal with all of us strange worldly people (she's says this with a humph).

  her boyfriend, is being very male, problem is my darling jw half agreed (my turn to humph and sulk, go to the fridge and get a beer for me only).. they haven't quite made the step to look here themselves, so they asked me to look for them, i told them they are wusses .

  anybody have anything for me to print out for them, not too nasty about us worldly lot.

  why is it ok to celebrate a wedding anniversary but not a birthday?

  i can understand christmas, easter, halloween and valentines day but birthdays, thanksgiving, mother's day and father's day don't have religious or murderous origins.

  also, at the last supper, jesus told his disciples to "keep doing this in remembrance of me".

  I think you raised some very good questions. Unfortunately, I am just too tired to think straight and the only responses that are really jumping out of my brain are just waay too sarcastic for me to post.

  It's also quite late right now and the postings are usually pretty slow this time of night.

  If you re-post to this thread in about 8-10 hours, it will bring it to the top of the 'Active Topics' list and other people will see it when the board is more active.

  Sorry I'm just not up to responding to your actual questions right now myself. They are good, though and others will respond.

  My Family or Thiers?

  i am new to this site and am seeking a little advice from some of your more seasoned veterans.

  i met my girlfriend about 7 years ago, when we met we fell in love and 2 years later had a baby and we moved in together.

  i brought with me 2 children from a previous marriage and she had one from a previous as well.

  You will find that Jgnat refers to UBM's. That's UnBelieving Mates. Witnesses refer to their non-witness spouses as 'unbelieving' regardless of what religion that spouse professes.   Gosh what a mess...

  I understand your pain, frustration and the full extent of the problem.

  Yours is a great example to share with people who KNOWINGLY get involved with active/inactive witnesses.

  Many people here will have suggestions and encouragements for you. It's a little late at night right now so the postings slow down quite a bit so maybe post back on this thread tomorrow morning in order to bring it up to the top of the 'Active Topics' list.

  In the meantime. pour yourself a cup of tea - or a beer! - and read thru some posts in the 'Best of' series on the home page of this site. There's so much great information there.

  btw - Welcome to JWD. This is a perfect place for you to address your questions and concerns. While most of the people here are ex-witnesses, many are active, some were elders and a good number are current elders and ministerial servants.

  the kids were sleeping, and one brother came up to me "is there a microphone on thats picking up some loud noise"?..

  i said "all mikes are off except for the stage".

  he said "there's gotta be something because the noise is annoying!".

  Home from Circuit Assembly

  as some of you knew, my circuit assembly was this weekend (dec 24 and 25).

  the theme was "clothe yourselves with the new personality".

  i guess the society has to reinforce the idea of humility, because apparently, you can't mislead haughty people.. from the sound of the accounts report, people are voting with their wallets.. nothing particularly egregrious was said.. luckily my mother had a fever this morning, so we got to leave at lunch.

  IDEA For A NEW Watchtower Related Website

  as has been previously pointed out, international copyright law is extremely complex, and interpreting such is a specialty.

  therefore, i do not claim that the following "idea" for a new watchtower related website will comply with international copyright laws, but it just might.

  possibly, at this point in time, there is a need for a new discussion board website, which specializes in discussing what the wbts has previously published on various topics.

  Such a website should be hosted by an actual person using a webhost in a country where the WBTS has no clout with law enforcement.

  What is the WTS status in Italy and France?
