[clinking glass] Shiraz!
mrsjones, apart from being a city in Iran, shiraz is also a breed of grape, from which Aussie's make a nice wine.
Did I get that right, ozziepost?

well, enosant, you made it here.
there are many nominal witnesses here, many who have left, many who are leaving and many who've been thrown out.
admittedly, there is some teeth gnashing going on here, but given that our families have been stripped from us by policies of a multi-billion dollar corporation that operates under the guise of religion i don't think that is an unreasonable reaction.. kick back and enjoy the fresh air.

Kick back and enjoy the fresh air. Feel free to talk about whatever is on your heart and mind, or feel free to be silent. Wow! Freedom of expression!
Hello, lurkers!! Stop in and say hi. If you want to really get the best from this forum, log in and start testing your viewpoints. i can't help thinking that if i had never gotten baptized out of loyalty and fear of disappointing my parents (and fear of having my flesh eaten by birds of prey after being destroyed in armageddon), i would not be in this situation.
i have several family members and former friends who were raised as jws, but never got baptized, and they never have to experience the angst and pain that i have to experience.
i was baptized and never dedicated my life.
i was just thinking that most of those who were not against porn were once jws and presumably would have been against it then.
do you think this means that when in a religion people are generally paying lip service to some principles rather than really really believing them or as part of conversion to the world sans jw principles moral standpoints change?
Qcmbr,
I have not been against porn. Ever. I have felt guilty about porn before I knew better, but I have never been anti-porn.

They can't offer a baptism annulment. If they did they would lose thousands upon thousands of seemingly faithful Witnesses.

this is a question for those that believe in a god or gods, particularly those described as "all knowing" or "almighty".. how do you defend to yourself that your god has not in any modern situation saved his people from anything?.
people of all faiths are regularly killed by various natural elements.
of course, if you knew such a thing was going to befall a person and you could do something to protect them, you would.
I figure it this way: If God needs me to defend, 's not much of a God, eh?

what would your views be on mormons?.
was there much incidences where jw's and mormons would ever catch eachother while going door-to-door?.
just curious cause both of you do it and wondered if there was ever any conflict between the two..... evanescence
Qcmbr,
Is there something less salvagable about recently dead people? Are only dead people (more than 100 years dead) and those who choose to be baptized salvagable? I am having trouble understanding how the line of salvation is drawn.
The post I made was really just teasing with LittleToe carried over from another thread, but your reply raised these questions in my mind.

i came to jwd back in 2001, i was under a different name then.
i do not remember if i was introduced by gumby who is a dear friend of mine or if i had found this site through freeminds.org i was when i first came here pretty bitter as i went through pure hell with the jw faith and my family who are jw.. i was ready for a fight, and ready to rip anyones head off if they crossed me wrong.
i was bitter at the religion for almost fooling me twice as i was a mormon in my teenage years.
Through the miracle of the Internet.

i've had this question is my mind for a while now, but has there been any skeletal remains discovered that could prove the existence of the nephilim?.
there's so many unanswered questions about these giants - first of all, were they really hybrids?.
secondly, if the demons could materialise and procreate, how do we not know that they gave their children the same reproductive powers?.
I quit,
COUSIN!!!, or is it AUNT-IN-LAW!!!
Sheez, I dunno...
organization and the faith.
what hope do yall entertain for the future....the everlasting future?
do you still believe, want to be on a paradise earth or what?
defd,
I decided not to be anxious about the next day, it will have its own anxieties when it gets here. Instead, I just focus on seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness and I trust that all these other things will be added to me (if I am doing things that are likely to make that happen). I am not conscious of anything against myself, but by this I am not proved righteous. He that examines me is a fair and merciful examiner, and understands me completely. What gifts I get, if any, are not through an organization anyway (can't be). There is no salvation in nobles or in the sons of earthling man, I will not put my trust in them.
So, my hope is in God. My hope is an anchor for my faith. My hope is that I will be happy now and in the future.
Do you have a more realistic hope than that?
