  every year, a new jw calendar comes out, and i say to myself, the watchtower should feel more and more stupid each year knowing that what they prophesized didn't happen once more.. i wonder what will be this year's theme written on the calendar?.

  Another Elder Called My Mom To Find Out About Us.....

  he called for her "time" and then began asking questions.

  he wanted to know where my daughter lived, what her married last name was now, how the family was doing, etc.

  he asked her if she thought my not attending anymore had to do with the fact that i had a business and now i'm "materialistic".

  last evening we went out with 2 other former jw couples a couple of guys and their wives i knew from the old days of bethel.

  we were discussing the public apology that the catholic church just authorized to be made to the child abuse victims for their cases being mishandled as well as that $100 million dollar check they just cut.. .

  and i will ask you all the same question .

  I love the "light is getting brighter" thing... I mean how bright is this light going to finally be? What kind of lightbulb does this light have? We might be going nuclear at this rate.

  And the answer is NO. They are being inspired and led by God, so no way jose.

  jw meetings and obedience to the society

  in what ways does each of the jw meetings play a part in instilling obedience to the mother organization?

  or maybe put another way, how does each weekly jw meeting contribute to the overall jw mindset?.

  this thought came to me whilst drifting in and out of the watchtower study this morning.. ministry school: helps jws strengthen their speaking skills for better defending their beliefs.

  The brainwashing aspect is sooooo evident when instead of calling it a religion or faith, as other religions do, "thank you, I'm not interested I have my own faith" the JW's say "we're in the truth" The word TRUTH is said over and over and over and over again.... You start forgetting the meaning of the word and just start kinda chanting along that you have the truth and you forget to question the teachings because it's the truth.

  Instead of the meetings being about "studying the bible" as they continue to preach, it's really about using the same brainwashing words over and over and over so that you continue to believe the crap. The worst word they could have picked is TRUTH, because it's really the FALSE. My DF'd sister coined that phrase.... we were in the FALSE! Say that about a hundred million times. Next time you go to a meeting count how many times they use words like "truth" and replace it with "false" !!!! Their coined phrases are overused... and the meetings about going over the same material over and over and the same chit all the time, it's because if they quit cramming it down your throat, you might think about it for a few minutes and question it all.

  How many went to heaven in the first century?

  if william josephus estimated that by the end of the first century, there were about 1,000,000 christians, and paul wrote that the good news .

  had been preached "in under all creation", then why did john say in revelation that only 144,000 would go to heaven?.

  why were those who numbered more than 144,000 christians prior to john's revelation in 96ad not informed that there hope was invalid?

  I love the way they KNOW who is going to heaven and who isn't... yeah, a guy that died "professing" to be a Christian, that in fact was murdered and was a martyr for his faith, might only have "professed" and might not qualify for being a "real" Christian.

  I ask of you, how many JW's today would actually line up to die for their beliefs... seriously get killed? Would the FDS line up? the Governing Body??? Humph, I guess we will never know if they only profess or are REAL christians.

  "New system" questions

  do you remember all the hype about the "paradise" and then the natural questions that followed that no one has answers to... like,.

  "will we have cars in the new system?

  " - uh, well jehovah will provide us with whatever we need.

  "Will we have cars in the new system?" - uh, well Jehovah will provide us with whatever we need. (God didn't make cars, people do, are we going to be able to build cars???? Uh, there will be NO MORE SICKNESS! (great diversion, but back to cars...)

  "Will there be science and technology in the new system? Will we have TV's and microwaves?" - Uh, well Jehovah will provide us with whatever we need. (nice blanket answer for every question)

  "Will we have birth control in the new system?" - Uh, God said to be fruitful and multiply and we will have the fill the earth with all his people, so Jehovah will provide us with whatever we need that fulfills his original plan. (If the plan failed once, maybe a re-design of the plan would be in order, but don't question things)

  But seriously, this "new system" is starting to sound like the old system, as in Amish country... no TV's, no entertainers, maybe no cars?? No birth control... we have to clean up an entire planet that basically faced the largest war where god obliterates everything "worldly" and we're left with the clean up... and then we have to fill the earth, which means that we LIVE FOREVER and continue to be pregnant and have babies FOREVER, I mean a girl doesn't even catch a break and go through menopause????

  "A Jehovah--Take Ovah".......NEW YORK POST

  todays online edition says the dumbo neighborhood is up in arms over the fact that the watchtower has gotten approval to take acres of prime industrial land (taxfree) and that the watchtower will be offering little back.....the watchtower countered that there will be less crime if they're around and that they will renovate 2 neighborhood parks and install security cameras at york street subway station.

  Manpower problems at Bethel reason behind delay in annual report

  i was talking to a ministerial servant last week, and he said that a bethel elder told him the reason why the 2004 annual service report was .

  delayed, was because of man power problems.

  they simply don't have enough staff at the us branch, because the annual report is already .

  Well, when they built the local assembly halls in Plant City and Daytona Beach FL it took them 2 years to complete them. Now, trying to figure out how many years of free labor would it take to built these high rises? Are they planning on working on them for 10 years or what? It seems like NYC would have a construction timeline and wouldn't permit them to built it part time for years. Does anyone know?

  Also - if they built only residential buildings there, they would be able to sell them off quickly in NYC in the future if needed.

  once you've been there and experienced real love you know it. The one thing I learned about real love though is: It's UNCONDITIONAL.

  All that crap about love being kind, not jealous, not puffed up with pride in that scripture, well, that's one persons take on it. I think love is marvelous, it's huge, it's wonderous, it's magical, it is higher than that tallest mountains and deep as the ocean... it fills up your heart, your mind, your soul, it touches every fiber of your being. You no longer question "what is love" or "Am I in love" ... YOU KNOW. There are no more questions, only answers.

  Being in love with another human being I think is just a small glimpse of what love is, but it's the best we can do.

  BTW - loving a poodle (or any dog) is true love. When they come up to you and sit on your lap and all they want is for you to pet them and adore them... that's love!

  Choosing life vs death

  i watched "the hours" last night on tv and there is julianna moore talking about how depressed she was in her loveless marriage that she thought about suicide.

  then she decided that her life in that marriage was death.

  she changes her mind about suicide and choose to live, she chooses life.. she walked away from her husband and her 2 kids and abandoned them... it's really so sad in the movie... but her line really got to me that "that life was death, i chose life, i left" .

  I made me think of the whole JW thing, they preach armeggedon and death and destruction... and then if you leave they preach you are going to get DESTROYED!!! But in all reality, they give up life to be a JW, they give up every year they are alive... they don't treasure life and how precious it is. They are waiting to live, someday down the road. They don't enjoy life today, they can't have happiness because they believe everything is gettin destroyed, and there is no happiness in "this system" but that is FALSE!

  Wake up... the gift of life is TODAY. If you leave you CHOOSE TO LIVE! Yes, in leaving you choose life. Quite the opposite of what they preach and lie to you.

  God gave us life (if you believe in God) and it's really meant to be LIVED each and every day... there is happiness possible, all around us.

  THE MEANING OF LIFE IS TO LIVE IT
