i've read a few very interesting stories about people's experiences when they decided to purchase coc.i'd like to share mine and read yours also.. in 1999,not long after we purchased our first computer i started reading material about jw's.before long,i got really interested in the ray franz story because even up here in northern ontario,i had heard about the apostasy of 1980.in the fall of '99 my wife decide to take a college course(bucking the jw trend),and she would stay at her sister's place during the week.one day i called a christian book store to see if they could get me this book.i was very nervous,changed my name and i wouldn't give them my phone number.i told them i'd call back in a few weeks to make sure they had it before i went in to pick it up.. when the day came,i picked up my courage by two hands and took off for my 40 mile drive to get my book.the book store is located in a small shopping mall,which had me really nervous that another jw might see me going in or out of the store.i walked in the mall looking around,making sure there was nobody in sight that i knew.when i walked in the store,i had cash ready in my hands,walked up to the counter,gave my fake name and the book i was purchasing.now i just had to walk and make it to the car and i was home free.. i know buying a book isn't that hard,i do it all the time,but at that time the implicationsof having this book in my possesion was tremendous.. anyways,it's been 5 1/2 years and still nobody here knows.the book has really opened my eyes and mind to the realities of the wts.i would definitely recommend this book to everyone here who has yet to read it.it's worth the effort to acquire it and will take away your fear of the watchdollar.
My non jw wife introduced it to me slowly.I knew she had a new source of info because, SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE BROUGHT UP THOSE POINTS ON HER OWN.
well quite honestly i couldnt give her an answer to her questions,so I read it.
Then I read his 2nd book (In search of christian freedom)If you haven't read that you must get it .Im out now and am trying to help others.

recently, a jw relative tried to discuss my "spiritual well-being" with me.
i have had conversations in the past with this same relative concerning 607 vs 586/587 and 1914. no matter what i said, it went in one ear and out the other.
it was like talking to a brick wall.

To validate all my efforts in serving him.I still believe in Jehovah or whatever he is to be called.But i no longer believe he will end things in my lifetime.I guess no one really knows though.I do know for certain that the jws are sheep with an evil shepherd.

Way to go.I just hung up the phone with my mother.We had a similar conversation.I dont know how to reach her,she is so much under the control of men.
Preaching the truth about the troof is a very difficult and futile thing in most cases.
I am a logic based person.You know "just the facts mam"but i see the facts are'nt able to persuade someone who is brainwashed.

Im trying to help my mother who is a jw.She of course wont read anything that is not wtbts.She thinks reprints on the net are evil.Its amazing the power that an unseen group of men can have on people isnt it?

that is a question i would have never asked even a month ago.being raised a jw how could you not know the answer?they told me time after time after time that we have an earthly hope.we can live forever in a paradise without sickness or death.
(that sounded great to me).as i'm sure all of you are aware the wtbts has some rather selective interpretations of scripture.these are easily proved to their captive audience, i mean their followers by using their own translation of the bible.. what i'm having a problem with is understanding who goes where?.
the jws believe that the annointed go to heaven and the great crowd benifit by being associated with these annointed by gaining eternal life on earth.thus they are saying that the entire greek scriptures apply only to the annointed.
So in all reality then, the bible should or may apply to only those alive at that time.I know that a lot of people want it to apply to every generation(theirs).
What if any of the bible do you guys feel applies to us now?Or what can be learned that is useful?
