You do not say whether it will be a witness funeral , but when you go it will be personal for you . Our thoughts and care go with you.

englishmans post reminded me of my experience.
i was about the 20th person to go through the little pool not much bigger than a bath tub.
When I was done, it was the local swiming baths a short distance from the assembly. A large properly chlorinated pool that also gave a measure of privacy since only one or two onlookers per candidate were admitted.
I always felt uncomfortable watching the "sisters" of all shapes and sizes have to display themselves in swimsuits before the whole Assembly.
A practical old elder of my acquiantance once retorted that "It is supposed to be a public display of your faith, not your body!"

I do find it VERY unusual, to say the least. The idea that a sizeable group of companies such as Rand Cam / Regi could make such a fundamental error in their stockholder publications, and for this to remain unknown to the WTS for so long, and for the original brothers not to take steps to imediately correct it , - is absolutely remarkable , and that is being polite.
But they are so clear in the denial that I am bound to accept it until someone can disprove it.
last week at the kingdom hall, my mother was met by an elder who said: "i'm sorry to hear about benext, she found that puzzling then another mournful face who told her they'd help her in any way they could.
the gossip had gotten around that i no longer "went to my meetings like i should.
" i've been inactive for a year and haven't been to a meeting for several months.

Among the congo, I saw it most when Aids became a topic of news . The gloating over the suffering of others ..[because it was perceived they had broken Gods laws , and J W's were protected because they dont take blood either].. was sad to behold.

Here in dull old England we do not have Thanksgiving day.
We used to go out on Christmas day though . In times of my youth that was our tradition as much as "The World" had theirs . People were generally O K in my experience.
In more recent times I found a tailing off of support for that that arrangement . the last time I did it I was the only one who turned up! So I gave them a rollicking at the next group study!
Perhaps they could just see common sense!
ok everyone...i am new.. i don't know what to say....just hello.. i am a disfellowshipped jehovah's witness...which maybe one day i will get in detail about....but right now it's still too painful.. besides if i talk about it i feel like i am talking bad about people or hindering jehovah's spirit with others.
i realy try to shy away from speaking badly of people...even if they hurt me.. what i believe in my heart is no one can truely hurt you if your standing with the creator is good in his eyes.they in reality hurt only themselves,because they hinder thier relationship with our maker.. i do not like to talk bad about any religious group realy because, i think what if jehovah some how aproved of them and then i am introuble!.
i can't remember where the scripture is but it is about the apostles and the advice was to let them go....and if they were from god then you know....but if they weren't then it would end...thier preaching and basically god would take care of them.. i feel jesus could say the things he did of religious leaders because,well.....he is th son of god and these people claimed to represent his dad.

I must echo the thoughts of Francois and others but you must make up your own mind .
Please use this time as a wonderful opportunity to re evaluate the "Truth". Think objectively about your beliefs. Test them against reason and logic ,using all the info you gain from all the sites. Pretend that you are starting new with no preconceived "Truths" - now does it all still appeal to you as it once did?
They like to use the example of those Borea (Acts 17;11) who accepted the message but only after they had "Carefully examined the scriptures daily " not in a trusting way but "As to whether these things were so"
So put it all all to the test. As Ray Franz said "Let the Scriptures speak for themselves" If it is the truth , it will stand up to scrutiny.

I am sorry if my deletion of the opening two lines caused any confusion . With hindsight Nathan N is right of course, but the text only related to my letter of enquiry to the WTS and had no bearing on their reply.
Where does that leave the issue know? I have not sufficient knowledge of American Company Law so as to comment on the feasability of the reply. But since they are so specific in the denial, I dont see how I can disbelieve it

maybe you are remembered at most by your grandchildren, but then your presence in the universe is gone.. so, really, what difference does it make whether you die in your 40's or your 70's, your memory simply lingers another 30 years at most.
Joelbear, you are starting to worry me. What started as an interesting hypothetical question is now getting to be too real
It is easy to think that It should good to end it all on your own terms , but would we ever do it , i dont know. If this becoming a reality to anyone, now is the time to stop short.
A simple thought would be that , who knows what will happen tomorrow ? No one should miss it .
I wil never have children now, (waited too long for the New World), so nobody will remember me long. But so what? , I am here today and I want to see tomorrow. and read more Joelbear posts.

i don't know if this is necessarily unusual but our hall lost power one cold day.
the meeting was cancelled.
In my experience they would do amost anything rather than cancel a meeting.
If the Sunday Speaker did not show up then someone would produce a spare outline and read it with all the scripteres just to make up the 45 mins. I was an elder too, but although I would want to say "Lets go home early " , peer pressure pevented me from speaking up. Freeom of speech is a luxury afforded to feisty old sisters and the "spiritually weak"
I can recall a meeting by torch and candlelight. To hell with Fire Regulations!
