You seem to be in a tough place, dear. You probably should do what YOU want to do. Do you want to book the flights for everyone? Or do you think they should be responsible for themselves? Do you want to go to the reunion, or are you too nervous, perhaps afraid that they will lecture you?

Sabotaging one's life...
by Frog ini think that if i don't take the time to post this one out of me i may very well implode:(.
gosh i feel so bloody awful at the moment, and i apologise for laying this on my friends here when i know you all have your own ordeals to deal with.. i've been feeling intensley anxious lately about going home to visit my family at the end of the year.
there's going to be a bit of a family reunion in my home town, which will mainly consist of my immediate family (my never been baptised brother, my disfellowshipped self, and my fence sitter baptised father) and my uncles family (once an elder of 20years, my aunty, their two 20somethings sons who've never been baptised, and my cousin who like me was diss'd a few or so years ago).

Do you have an Evil Streak?
by misspeaches insometimes people do things too me that just rub me up the wrong way... and out comes evil miss peaches....!
i can't help it... this weird evil side of my personality displays itself.
for example if i'm in traffic and someone is tailgating me i deliberately slow down to a couple of kms per hour below the speed limit.

What's the most controversial thing you ever did in Kingdom Hall?
by JH ini remember scanning real money and with photoshop pasting the picture of an elder on the bill over the face of the queen.
then i printed many bills.
it looked very real.

Too often our meetings at the hall lasted well over 2 hours... Sometimes it was 2 hours and 10 minutes. That got me so mad.
How does two hours and TWENTY minutes sound? Happened quite often at the KH where I went. problem was, I had to be at work 25 minutes after the meeting on Sundays. When they dragged it out, I was always late for work.

Were the people I studied with just crack pots?
by caz ini have been thinking about my late mother today, ( it would have been her b'day) and i am feeling a bit upset over the fact that i no longer have a beautiful old wooden table that she gave me before she passed away.
this piece of furniture was one of the first items that she bought when we emmigrated from the uk to aus' and she had bought it 2nd hand.
i loved that table but i got rid of it on the insistance of the 2 women i was studying with as they told me it had demons in it!

I bought a globe at a yard sale once. An elder and his wife came to visit and admired it, saying it was such a wonderful thing. Once they heard I bought it at a yard sale, the wife freaked out and gave me a lecture on why I should not buy second hand things. The 8 year old son who was with them loved that globe. I told him he could have it as long as it was okay with his parents. All of a sudden it was no problem that the globe came from a yard sale, they walked home with it.
At the hall where I went, there were people who bought just about everything second hand, and others who refused to do so because the items might be possessed. Strange though, the ones who were well-to-do were the ones who didn't buy anything second hand, but it seemed it was okay for the poor ones to do so.

by MsMcDucket ini really feel like i got punk'd!

The people who "converted" me were two nice folks, happily married with 5 children. Although I travelled from country to country, we kept in touch for years until we finally lost track. I'm sorry about that and wish I knew where they were. No, I don't hate them at all, they are good folks.

What does "Get a life" mean?
by MsMcDucket in.
if someone says "i have a life" because i have kids, husband, etc,etc....does that mean that the other person doesn't have life or does that make their life more meaningful than a person who doesn't have this or that?
-

Usually, "having a life" means that someone does not fiddle the time away but has something useful to do.

Windowless Kingdom Halls
by drahcir yarrum insome time back, i had a disagreement with my brother-in-law, who even though he has doubts about the witnesses, still wants to put on the cloak of being a believer for his mother's sake.
while he acknowledges the doctrinal errors and abysmal treatment of the flock by their elders, he doesn't want to assign a malicious, controlling motivation to it.
i told him that i believed the idea of not having windows in kingdom halls was part of the brain washing that occurs during meeting after meeting during the weeks, months and years.

The KH I went to has several huge windows. One can look outside during the meetings. The KH is located in a quiet street in the middle of nowhere.
