hi, im new here but have been looking at lots of web sites for exjw's and i can't seem to get any answer in what im looking for.. i have a bit of a delemia i am df and my dad (jw) is getting remarried to a jw in march and i am wanting to go but the thing is i haven't been to a kh for a very long time and where they are getting married is the one that i grew up in and for this not sure where i am to sit.
do i have the right to sit in the front row or do i have to treat it like a normal meeting?.
can anyone shed any light on this?.
Welcome helncon.
Sounds like your dad has been more fair than most relatives. Good for you and him. It also sounds like he may need you more and more as his marriage gets under way.
Good luck.
you guys, help me out here please!.
if you read my post about my dad, you understand why i am a bit nervous.
he is calling now.
I'm really sorry for your situation. I feel for you.
Whatever you say, try to remember to frame the overall statement(s) with the following structure in mind:
1. An action
2. A feeling
3. A need.
For example: Dad, when you XXXXX it makes me feel XXXXXX and I need you to XXXXXX.
Be kind, clear, compassionate and direct.
Good luck. Remember, you live next door to your parents; some of us live with this pressure from our spouse in the same house.
so i was thinking - if i don't da myself and they don't df me, am i doomed forever to this limbo called "fade?
" when do i stop worrying about "what if they find out?
" when will they (if they saw me) just think of me as someone they knew, rather than "one of their flock" - even when they know i'm inactive?
If you have an active spouse who isn't happy that you've left the WTS your fade may never be over. The elders can't forget about you if your wife and kids show up at every meeting - alone.
The WTS has stated that if someone isn't viewed by the community as a dub then it wouldn't be necessary to take judicial action for wrongdoing. How long this takes and whether someone can ever attain it is up to each individual body of elders.
I've known some who were out for 15 years get df'd for something. I've seen others who were only out a year or so get away with some serious sinning.
there's an interesting dicsussion going on in channelc about the origins of the star of bethlehem.. "the wt continues to teach that the star was in fact a light from satan, who was seeking to kill the child jesus.
what i noted from actually reading the account, is that there is no justifiable proof from scripture, that what the wt teaches about that light being from satan, is true.".
....... and i have to concur.
From my reading of the bible I don't see that the star moved at all until after the magi saw Herod.
It could logically be argued that they went to Jerusalem because that is where a newborn king would be located. Plus the Persians and Romans weren't exactly best friends and if the delegation was large then stopping in Jerusalem to ensure that the local leader knew of their presence in Judea would have been wise.
It all seems so positive when I read the scriptures themselves. Not negative and evil.
i am not sure if this has been already brought up but i got a glimpse at the feb 07 kingdom ministry.
the watchtower leaders seem to be convinced that the mechanics of tract campaigns to push numbers are a success.
another one will be started in mid-march to announce the jw memorial.
I'm impressed - it's only mid-December and you've already seen the Feb 07 KM. I like it.
The WTS is no different than many popular tv shows.
As ratings decline they all try predictable stunts to maintain their status.
Hopefully we'll be looking back one day and all decide when the WTS jumped the shark.
These tract campaigns will rally the troops, but if they begin to seem to be a regular part of the ministry the troops interest will die down.
i know of jws that celebrate "family day" at this time of year.
i have asked these jw about where they got the term "family day" was it from the watchtower?
they seem to deny the watchtower had ever mentioned "family day", but i can sense they are trying to hide something here.
My family had a family day almost each year.
That was multiple decades ago :)
Unofficial way to make the kids feel good and not so left out. My parents were convinced that if they didn't supplement the holiday stuff with their own fun family things us kids would leave the truth. hahahahahaha - here I am anyway.
I loved family day.
i just could not believe it when i stumbled across this forum recently.
i was actually doing research for my dad who wanted to see the world's viewpoint of the failed 1975 prophecy.
he came into the truth less than three years ago and though my mom has been a witness since she was a teenager she never spoke of that particular time period to him.
Welcome Elinor,
I appreciate the frank and open way you expressed your feelings.
I too had the same roller coaster of emotions.
This board helped me more than I can say.
Some of the best friends I"ve ever had are on this board - people who let me be me and don't judge.
does anyone have a scan of the new blood card released in the us?.
i'm dying to know if the us bethel is asking for local elders or liasion committee to have access to a person personal medical records?.
That is not the current card.
The current card in the US came out in January 2005. It does not request the privilege of viewing your medical records.
There was no new card for '06 or '07. The 2005 card is good indefinitely, or until the jw changes his conscience on something he filled out.
I'll scan one in when I get a chance if someone else hasn't done it already. although I'm sure there is a current one on the board somewhere.
i just read a post today that caught my attention, and gave me an idea.. name off some scriptures the society rarely or never quotes and the subject they pertain to.. job 1, 1-3 and job 3, 1-5, birthdays..
jgnat,
there are plenty of wt articles on the thief on the cross. They just change the location of a comma and voila! paradise isn't today after all.
