  I am officially divorced

  yesterday was the day - that my marriage of over 10 1/2 years to my jw wife was dissolved....finally.... - i am in a terrific mood today!

  my wife and i have joint physical and legal custody of the kids which is awesome!

  she doesn't make them go to meetings or go out in service and she has to allow all extra carricular activities.

  first let me say that i'm at a point in my life where i don't even buy the idea that the bible is gods word.

  this is just a thought exercise.

  there would never be a good time to have this conversation.

  quite different from most people raised a witness, i have very few horror stories about my upbringing.

  my family was just a family, my mom and dad fought and argued, my siblings and i misbehaved and got in trouble.. .

  Hello everyone, first post.

  hello, i just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here - as i will be posting here.. i grew up a jw and pioneered, was a ministerial servant, ect, i was in the organization for 17 years.

  i left and naturally my family did as they were told and cut off all communication with me.

  this left a horrible taste in my mouth for not just jw's, but any religion for that matter.

  Need help finding articles: Propaganda

  i searched on here and on google, but i couldn't find that wonderful wt article describing the tactics of the propagandist.

  which described themselves so eloquently.

  anyways, i would appreciate anyone posting that article, a scan would be nice if possible.

  do any of you with spouse or close family in ask the question?

  regularly?.

  i often ask the wife that question.

  Wow OTWO you started a nice little thread and it has blossomed into a mini bonfire.

  Sort of like the question "Honey, how was the meeting?"

  I used to ask my wife. A mix of her being embarrassed that she didn't remember what was discussed and the gossip boring me caused me to stop asking. I think we're both happier I don't ask. When something of interest occurs she lets me know (meaning gossipy stuff, nothing spiritual).

  Most dubs don't pay much attention at the meeting. Attendance is all that is mandatory to enter God's kingdom. All the other stuff is done for the purpose of showing off your spirituality like a peacock. A tired dub, or a bored dub can excuse away any amount of spiritual lethargy by internally rationalizing: 'hey I attend the meetings, and that is what Hebrews says to do.'

  Marriage is like one of those really long and confusing math formulas that professors write on multiple chalk boards. Each marriage has its own formula. Every variable changes every situation differently. That's why we have to use love, kindness and consideration for our mate to help us navigate our way. I think you do that.

  Many of us love our spouses very much. But, that love doesn't blind us to the realities of life. We can love our spouses but also find frustration with some aspects of their personalities.

  I think you're doing a great job so far of trying to live your life, allowing your wife to peacefully live hers and striving to maintain a strong marital bond. The WTS intentionally makes that dificult to do.

  I feel for you. It's obvious that you love God and are seeking to worship him the "right" way.

  Please do some research on legalism in religion. Witnesses can be loving and kind individuals, but the organization is legalistic and reminiscent of the Pharisees. It sounds too awful to believe, which is why I think you should do some research on religious legalism.

  Do yourself a huge favor and lift the weight from your heart - read a few threads here on disfellowshipping and its scripturalness. Jesus died so that we wouldn't be over burdened by our sinful nature - he took our sin onto himself and told us specifically that "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My load is light” (Matt. 11:28).
