so, according to the great minds at watchtower, and you all know we can trust them, adam was created in october 1, 4026 bce (morning or afternoon?
) and he had a 6,000 anniversary in 1975. correct?
and eve's creation would have marked the end of the 6th creative day, correct?

i can re-confirm the following from my weekend.. the district overseer, brother anderson, a very good, folksey speaker with lots of anecdotes, did indeed tell the story about calling on a distinguished british gentleman who turned out to be the retired head of the literature department at oxford.
you couldn't possibly give me a name for that oxford don could you? i have contacts at oxford and can do some spadework if i have a name to go on.

is it possible that the jw religion appeals to someone with an adolescent level of maturity, and that people leave it because they simply grow up?
those who are satisfied may be adults in other areas of their lives, but perhaps spiritually they are still adolescents or even children?
:No - I do not agree - there are some very intelligebt people who have become JWs - see the IQ thread could you possibly supply a link thereto? pepheuga

i was just wondering if you still feel hurt or some kind of interior pain from your jw days or is it all passed and you have no more feelings towards this organization.... i still feel "hurt" and let down... .
afterall, they were friends, and now they just don't care anymore.
i never felt hurt, just angry and bewildered. to feel hurt, one might have to have a sense of one's own worth. one of the things the jws persuaded me of was that i was worth nothing.

well, we know the jw take on the events of 1914, but how many of us accept the standard issue "wordly" explanation - that if only the balkan crises could have been contained therein, there would have been no world war one.. blame the great powers i say, all those silky smooth university educated elites "running" the show.. pepheuga
the chinese beg to differ though.....

i have noticed timekeeping has got worse at meetings lately - always running over - some elders are very bad - but i notice it is always the publishers that get counseled not the elders and they are the worse culprits.
ministerial servants seem to be ok -the obviously want to progeress to elder and feel if they keep going over time they will not make elder.
i am told the worse person of all for timekeeping was freddie franz -anybody have personal experience of this?
the worst timekeeper appears to be none other than jehovah himself. so why should his peons be any better?
