i recall in the 1970's witnesses around the Toronto Bethel where rumours were rampant that the new scrolls or the book of life were being printed.
Hmmmm.... maybe that's the REAL reason they're expanding the printing facilities in Georgetown!

so we had our circuit assembly this past weekend, and it was the first one in my life that i told my wife i would not be attending.
we had a brief conversation on why, and she said well just go to this last one with me, and then when we can discuss what we learn and compare it to why you've been expressing your "new" feelings towards the wts.. i love my wife, and as much as i thought i was gonna hate it i decided to go.
now that i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness it really didnt bother me that nobody hardly talked to me despite me living in this same area for 4 1/2 years, everybody views me as spiritually weak because i dont go out in service, rarely attend meetings, dont comment, lesson is never underlined, so the "friends" never interact with me anyway and i'm use to it, actually that's the way i prefer it.
my wifes cousin was announced DF'd tonight, she came home crying and said her cousin put a picture of me, my wife, her, and her new husband on her windshield, and after the meeting when she saw it, she just broke down and cried.
It's just heartbreaking what that awful cult does to families. I can't even imagine what must be going through your wife's head right now, who knows, maybe this will make her see things differently. Good job on not sharing the DF info just yet, sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders. I hope it all works out for you. Just give it time.
i sent an email detailing why i am not ok with my kids being with my (in the past) abuser father, and in turn mother (forgiver, hider, fascilitator).
i also touched on the fact that we do not consider ourselves to be jws, or held to the laws and rules of such, nor do we view the elders or congregation as an authority on us.
that she could print the email and give it to the elders if she wanted, but it would surely hasten the announcement of our disfellowshipping if she did.
I'm so sorry that you even had to send a letter like that in the first place. Don't feel guilty for standing up for yourself and your children. You did the right thing. ((((((hugs)))))))

It must have been painful to sit through all that drivel. It pained me just to read it. I hope that one day your wife realizes what you did for her.
District Overseer says "Christendom thinks they're spiritual because they can speak in tongues, so what if I said I like cheese in italian, does that mean I'm spiritual just because I can speak another language?! No! It's non-sense"
I've been a Christian for 3 years and I have yet to hear someone speak in tongues. I've always heard that it was a gift that God would give someone if it was needed (like the example that Stephen had). I've never heard of it referred to as an indication of spirituality. There are churches in the pentecostal faith that do that but I'm not sure how much of that is actually real versus emotion or put on for a show. IMO, those type of churches always struck me as a bit unbalanced. The only nonsense is that the DO would make a statement about "Christendom" when he's probably never set foot in a Christian church.
If we visit apostate websites, read thoughts outside of what the governing body says then we are eating at the table of demons. "Sure it's food" he says, "But it is rotten and will poison you"- Once again my wife is looking at me with the evil eye now, whispering: "the knowledge you have is from the table of the demons"
Real truth can stand up to criticism. The very fact that they tell you to avoid websites that are critical of their beliefs speaks volumes.
He says married people stop texting other married individuals that are not your mate, I wouldnt be texting your MOMMA! Stop texting others while you're out in field service, just wait until service is over to talk to them, if you have a profile on a social network YOU ARE BAD ASSOCIATION. (I have a myspace page for my music, I have a page on Facebook, as well as Twitter) - Once again my wife is looking at me crazy.
Now I know why my mother-in-law suddenly deleted her Facebook account.
That did it, my wife did not hold my hand during the prayer (didnt really care anyway) and she saw I never bowed my head or closed my eyes during the prayer which was a first for me, so she didnt speak to me at all for the rest of the day, until we got home, she saw she had a flat tire and asked could she use my car for work the next day. Then she says "I'm changing and this Circuit Assembly was powerful and it came at the right time so it must be Jehovah letting her know that she will soon not have a husband because of the way I have been acting"
I agree with the others that you should be kind and considerate but STAND YOUR GROUND. Don't let her walk all over you. You are not a doormat. I would definitely follow OTWO's advice and tell her that the bible expects her to be a good wife whether you are a believer or not. If she wants you to follow all the rules than she needs to follow them herself. Right now, she's just being a hypocrite.
i would like to know what that verse is all about( i only have new world ).. .
Bible Question: Why is Acts 8:37 not in the most modern translations? Bible Answer: Acts 8:37 reads as follows,
This verse occurs in the middle of a section of scripture that describes the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch. This verse has been either eliminated or retained with an explanation that the verse does not appear in the best ancient manuscripts. The verse did not occur in the earliest and best manuscripts of the New Testament. The verse did not appear until about 500-600 A.D. in a manuscript now known as Codex Laudianus. This passage was apparently inserted by a scribe who wanted to explain why the Ethiopian eunuch was baptized. It is clear from the rest of scripture the eunuch was not saved by being baptized. Scripture does not include every word that was spoken by a person or between people. It does not even try. If scripture did include everything the Bible would be either huge or contain many volumes. Listen to the apostle John,

for a group that claims not to believe in hell, why do jws fear satan and demons so much?
a quick search on my 2003 wt cd reveals over 14,000 references just to satan's name..what is the worst thing satan could do to a jw?
This story (or various other versions of it) has been around the JW community since the 1960s.
Every JW I've ever know had a version of that story. You'd have to be living under a rock or not a JW not to know about it. I think the Mormons have a similar story too. I know the Mormons also have their own version of the smurf story. Must be a common theme among cults.
There were actually several threads about Lillelid murders on JWD/JWN. It was also talked about on FreeMinds and other sites.
This link even has pictures of the family. So sad. http://sixthemovie.com/html/about_the_movie.html

Thank you so much Lady Liberty! I'm gonna print that out for future reference.
IA - You're right about some of the DFed being some of the worst. It's actually a DF person that was attacking me and going around telling people I was an apostate and spreading rumours about me. I feel sorry for the guy though. It must be awful to know that you're not good enough to be a good JW and survive Armageddon and yet you're still so brainwashed that you can't move on to anything else. What a miserable existence.

angel eyes, you have had such a fascinating life! I had no idea that all those crazy stories and experiences that I've heard over the years have all happened to YOU! That's amazing! You must be the most faithful JW on the planet for Satan to heap so much abuse at you! Being punched in the face, encounters with a murderer who had a dead body in the garden, etc, etc. Wow, just wow! I imagine you must have been pioneering for many, many years to have all these experiences!
Please let me know when you give your next thrilling experience at the District convention! I want to make sure to get a front row seat!

BeDuhn also liked the Catholic version of the bible and criticized the use of the name Jehovah in the NWT. You won't see that mentioned in any JW chain email.
It should also be pointed out that BeDeuhn's PhD from the University of IN is in Comparative Religious Studies, not in any Biblical languages. He is not recognized in any scholarly circles as being an expert in biblical languages.
